'Gong hei fat choy' | 恭喜发财
What does that mean? It's a common Cantonese Chinese New Year greeting that means wishing you prosperity and good fortune :)
Here are some other traditional greetings, including how to pronounce them!

Math Tutoring Update
disappointed to share that we must delay the start of the afterschool math tutoring program. Our district team is working with us to iron out details, and anticipates an update for us next week. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
Middle School Newspaper Launches
We are happy to announce that the Middle School Journalism class has created a newspaper website. Feel free to check out their recent articles at https://angelineacademynews.com/, and leave them a comment! The staff are still learning, so only a handful have been published so far, but we hope to continue publishing throughout the school year.
Course Title Swap - Journalism/Yearbook
Our district was recently made aware that Journalism 1, (1006300) no longer counts as a fine arts credit towards the fine arts graduation requirement. This will be corrected through a course replacement. Students enrolled in Journalism 1, (1006300) will now be enrolled into the Foundations of Journalism (8203000) course. This modification will ensure that the impacted students will still earn the fine arts credit for graduation.
No changes of curriculum are necessary since the existing coursework is aligned to meet the requirements of the fine arts credit. The update of the course title will be made at the district level, and gradebooks and course schedules will display the new course title in the coming weeks.
Reserved Parking
Recently, we have experiences some situations in which drivers who do not have permits to park in spots reserved for drivers and passengers with disabilities seem to be parking in or blocking the access to those spots. As a reminder, please leave those spaces free for the drivers and passengers who have been issued parking permits to use them. You may park in any other available spot, including an EV spot, if you prefer. The use of those spaces is subject to legal enforcement, as is the resulting disturbance a verbal altercation creates. Please model courteous and safe driving habits on our campus.
Donations Requested - Tissues & Wipes
We're seeing an upswing in runny noses on campus this week and would appreciate any donations of tissues and wipes to help keep the cold and flu viruses in check. And if your student is exhibiting signs of a cold or flu, please consider keeping them home to avoid spreading the illness to others.
North Parking Lot
This week, the maintenance department will be installing additional fencing to enclose the fields where our PE classes have outdoor activities. We will cordon off that lot, beginning on Tuesday, to allow them to complete this project. Please plan to park elsewhere for the remainder of the week.
Course Selection Presentations
Current 6th, 7th and HS students received course selection worksheets during class presentations this week. A recording of the information was sent via MyStudent to students and their primary contacts after each day's session. Students should return their completed worksheets to their ELA teachers next week to be ready with them for the actual course selection sessions, which take place during the school day.
It’s almost Super Bowl Sunday! Did you know we partner with the NFL to provide players with resources on how to be All Pro Dads year-round? This will be our ninth year holding an All Pro Dad Experience during Super Bowl weekend for NFL players and their kids. As a part of this event, we’ve created a special co-branded resource for players to use with their kids—and we wanted to share it with you too! Click here to download the All Pro Dad Super Bowl Playbook.
We've also created an interactive All Pro Dad Weekend Zone Playbook that has activities for you to do with your child as you watch the Super Bowl together. Click here to download the All Pro Dad Weekend Zone Playbook.
We all try to encourage, guide, and nudge our kids, with the hopes of them becoming great adults. We try to get better at knowing what to say and when to say it. Then your version of something like this happens. You’ve been telling her for weeks to try out for soccer. She gives you zero response. Then she tells you she is trying out for soccer. You think, “She is finally listening to me.” Only to find out it’s because Grandpa thinks she should. You want to say, “Are you kidding me? Grandpa, Smampa! I’ve been saying that for weeks.” I used to get extremely frustrated during these moments. Then I realized that was just me being ruled by my pride. Here’s why you should get other adults to parent for you.
Huddle up with your kids and ask, “Other than me, what adult helps you the most?”
