A message from Officer Laabs
When picking up and dropping off your student to Washington Middle School we asked that you follow all posted parking signs around school. Please avoid parking and waiting for yo9u student in the bus loading areas. Also St. Mary's facility should be avoided at all times for parking, or using their parking lot as a turn around. We invite you to park on S. 21st, S. 22nd, S. 23rd and Division St. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe before and after school.
SWIRL: Our School Goal
SWIRL is The Washington Middle School Goal this year. We wanted you all to know what we are focusing on this year and what you can expect to hear from your learners. SWIRL stands for Speaking, Writing, Interacting, Reading, and Listening.
This week is the first of five weeks that the students will take a short quiz on their ability to read or listen to an explanation. This week the assessment will be given in the science classes using science vocabulary and explanations. Next week a similar assessment will be given in social studies classes. We will use the information from these short quizzes to identify students that need to be challenged more and students that need more support in their reading and listening skills.

- Water Bottles: Students are encouraged to bring in their own water bottle to fill up through out the day. Due to Covid Restrictions, our bubblers will not be accessible, but the water bottle stations are still open.
- Blue/ Gold or A/B/C Day Calendar: Here is a link to the entire year calendar for Blue/Gold or A/B/C days. Your learners electives may alternate between days based on what day it is.
- Cell Phones- If students bring their cell phones to school, our policy is that cell phones need to be kept in student's locker for the duration of the day. If students do not follow this policy they will asked to put their cell phone in their locker or the cell phone will be brought to the office. We are asking loved ones to remind students of this policy.
