The B.Y.E. Buzz
Week of April 5th
Principal Corner
We hope everyone had a great spring break. We are ready to start our last quarter strong. Just a few quick reminders to help make the end of the school year more successful: have your child at school on time, allow an ample amount of sleep at night, and read at home to help them succeed. Breakfast can always be eaten at school if that helps make your morning routine easier.
The Book Fair is here! Parent night will be Monday, April 5th from 3:30-6:30. Please come to the outside library door through the garden for shopping.
The lost and found is growing. See pictures of lost items at the bottom of newsletter. Please email us if you recognize any items. We will place items outside on the picnic tables Monday for parents to look through. This is a good reminder to put student names in clothing articles.
The weather is getting nice! Remember we have the picnic tables and you can come eat lunch with your child at school.
Shout out to our paraprofessionals. Our school would not be a success without them. If you see Mrs. Dickey, Mrs. Adams, Mrs. McGarrah, Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Green, Mrs. Moppin, Mrs. Ballard, or our 3 Pre-K aids Miss Kristina, Mrs. Karina, and Mrs. Cinthia please tell them how much we appreciate them!!
Are you a 5th Grader that is going to Hellstern?

New Zones
As Springdale continues to grow, we are excited to expand our school family with the addition of the new Jim D. Rollins Elementary School of Innovation. The Springdale School District prides itself on providing the highest quality, personalized education to all our students, no matter where they attend school. The Springdale School District is adjusting attendance zones for the 2021-2022 school year in preparation for the opening of the new elementary school in the fall. These new zones will mean new exciting changes for some of our families. Please see the link for the new zones. If you are zoned to attend Rollins Elementary School of Innovation, a letter was sent home with your child on March 17. Please sign and return the letter to Young Elementary. A parent information meeting has been scheduled for April 5th at 6:00 or 7:00 in the BYE Cafeteria.
Notes from the Counselor- MOTIVATION
Counseling Lesson Theme- Career Awareness
Elementary school is not too early to start teaching your child about career awareness. Making career decisions is a lifelong process about exploring and experiencing the world of work. It is important for your child to become aware of how his or her education is connected to a successful future.
While in Elementary school, you can help your child:
Discover the variety of jobs available to him or her
Connect what he/she is learning in school to real-world situations
Imagine him/herself in an occupation
Develop work-readiness skills such as working and playing with others, making decisions, solving problems, and being a leader!
Discuss different skills and interests your child has and relate them to certain jobs. For example, a reporter needs writing skills to create newspaper articles or blogs.
