Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Great America 8th grade field trip is scheduled for Thursday, May 26, 2022. If your child has a season pass, is planning to purchase lunch at Great America, or brings lunch from home, please be sure that your child comes to school with all of the necessary items.
On the day of the field trip, students should arrive at school at the regular time of 7:40 AM and will leave for the trip at approximately 9:00 AM. The buses will then leave Great America at 5 PM and return to Thomas Middle School at approximately 6 PM. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at Thomas Middle School upon arrival of the buses at 6 PM. Since this is a school-sanctioned activity, students are not allowed to travel to and from the park independently.
Please note that students may be denied participation in this field trip should there be a concern with academic work completion or inappropriate behavior. We have been alerting the students about the participation criteria and encouraging students to check PowerSchool and maintain appropriate behavior. Students are expected to demonstrate responsible academic behavior throughout the end of the school year. If students have not met the criteria to attend Great America, parents will be contacted.
Criteria for participation in Great America and the Picnic Dance Party:
- All school work obligations have been completed and turned in.
- Behavior is acceptable and no more than two major detentions and no suspensions (either in school or out of school) are issued during the fourth quarter.
- All school financial obligations are met; library books, textbooks, Chromebook, Chromebook charger, and the Chromebook case have been returned,
Six Flags Dress Code:
1) Shirts (no bikini tops allowed) and shoes must be worn at all times.
2) Clothing with obscene or offensive words, sayings, or depictions is strictly prohibited, and Six Flags management reserves the right to deem such clothing inappropriate.
This is a school-sponsored event. Students are subject to all school rules throughout the day as well as the Great America rules. If any of these criteria are not met, parents will be contacted and the student will need to be picked up. This information has been explained to all the 8th graders so that they are aware that this field trip is a privilege to be earned.
We are looking forward to a fantastic day at Great America!
Thank you,
Lori Naumowicz , Greg Keadle and Nick Filipowski
