Principal's Message

Dear Gause Families,

We've had several events since the last newsletter, the Sport-A-Thon was held on Friday, October 5th where over $10,000 was raised to support our programs for students! Through these donation dollars we are able to bring assemblies into the school. Our first and most recent took place on October 17th. We had a performance by "The Zaniac". He performed science tricks and talked about science concepts with our students; we even had a special dance performance by our new Superintendent, Dr. Mary Templeton. The Halloween Hop was Friday, October 26 - it was great to see families coming together for a fun evening. So, here we are at Parent-Teacher Conferences the end of October! This month has flown by! We're looking forward to what November holds with our first musical performance under the direction of Dr. Frank Zahn. The fifth grade classes will be performing to honor our Veterans on Friday, November 9th. I have included important dates for the month of November in this newsletter. As other news and events arise throughout the month, I will keep you updated through Skyward. This seems like the perfect month to let you know how thankful I am for our students, families and the Gause staff!

Parent Pick Up:

A reminder that Parent Pick Up is from 3:40-3:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 3:00-3:10 on Wednesdays. The south door will open at 3:40 each day, and 3:00 on Wednesdays, and close promptly at 3:50 on each day except Wednesdays where the door will close at 3:10. This is so that any after school activities can come in to set up. A staff member will be at the south entrance to greet parents and check Parent Pick Up Cards. Each person picking up a student will need to have the Parent Pick Up Card to present at the time of pick up. If you do not have a card, or forget your card, you must go to the office to get a card. This system is in place for the safety of students. Thank you for your support with this.

Festival of Trees:

The annual Festival of Trees is upon us! The event is scheduled for December 7th and 8th at Hathaway Elementary School. The theme for Gause's tree this year is Legos. Each grade level will also have a theme for a basket. You will be getting more information from your child's classroom teacher regarding theme and items. Donations for the tree are always welcomed! The items need to be new/unused items. A portion of the proceeds from the tree and basket sales will go to the school.

Stuff The Bus

The annual Stuff The Bus event will be running from November 26-December 7. I have shared the information about this event below:

Veteran's Day Assembly:

Our Veteran's Day Assembly will be held on Friday, November 9th. The assembly will begin at 9:30 in the gym and last approximately 30 minutes. There will be a reception for our Veteran's prior to the assembly in the library. Musical performances will be by our fifth grade classes under the direction of Dr. Frank Zahn. Please contact the school if you would like more information regarding this assembly.

Superintendent's Coffee Hour:

You're invited to share a cup of coffee, and thoughts about our school community, with Superintendent Mary Templeton and Associate Superintendent Renae Burson. This is an opportunity to have us hear what you think is going well and what may need attention in our schools, your hopes for our district and how we can support parents and students.

Location: Gause Elementary

Time: Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 9 AM to 10 AM

No need to RSVP

Please contact Mary's office at 360-954-3001 if you have questions about this event.

Stay tuned for additional Coffee with Mary and Renae events that will happen in different locations throughout the school year.
