Kindness Week
Being kind is a choice. Think about it: We say "Be nice" to toddlers when they are learning to play with others or with toys. We even say "Be nice" to our pets. But when we say "Be kind" to someone, we mean something deeper. It takes real commitment to be kind in all situations - to show empathy and respect.
Great Kindness Challenge Week is a way that schools across the world have set aside time to focus on kindness. It will be January 27 through February 3. Each school celebrates kindness in its own way, but at Lakeview, we have the following activities planned. Many thanks to Ms. Wilke and student council for leading the work!
Coin War - save your coins to donate to help build a school in Mexico
Kindness hearts - each day, each student will write something he/she did that was kind for someone else or an act of kindness shown to them
Kindness Assembly and Announcements - to help everyone think about kindness
Spirit Days - Let's see everyone celebrate kindness with these dress-up days:
• Monday, Jan 27 - Kindness Rocks - Rock Star Day - dress like a rock star
• Tuesday, Jan 28 - Crazy for Kindness - Mismatched Clothes and/or Crazy Hair Day
• Wed, Jan 29 - Hats off to Kindness - Hat Day
• Thurs, Jan 30 - Team Up for Kindness - Wear sports apparel
