ROCKET NEWS
SEPTEMBER 2020
Welcome Back!
Welcome to Robert D. Reynolds School for the 2020-2021 school year! It continues to be an honor to serve as the principal of our learning community. Every effort has gone into preparing for this school year; I thank you for your patience, support, and partnership. We will continue to do our best to navigate this ever changing situation. By working together, communicating, and being flexible, I am confident that we will have a successful start to the year.
The 2020-2021 theme, "We are Kind, We are Smart... Reynolds Rockets have lots of Heart!” was created by second grader, Ryan Root. As always, we are so thankful and truly inspired by the themes that our students submit each year.
Important Information
Videos about mask wearing as well as a tour of Reynolds School are shared in this email. It is important to watch these videos together with your child prior to the first day of school. We hope that these resources are helpful for the children as they prepare for the first day.
This year, we will not be allowing parents to enter the building on the first day of school. Please plan for this prior to drop off on September 8th. It might help to speak to your child about this and plan a spot for a goodbye hug before walking into the building.
As we navigate new situations, we will work together to support students and parents to the best of our ability. It may take a little time for everyone to become comfortable with our new routines.
Building and Grounds
Stickers & Signage were added to building to help with navigating at a safe distance. Hand sanitizing stations were added as well.
Please be mindful of social distancing during drop off and pick up. We ask that parents and guardians do not congregate outside while waiting for your children. Please keep your space and wear your masks on campus to ensure everyone's safety.
Chromebooks & Online Learning
During the "Distance Learning" portion of the day, students will have extension activities, time with their special area teacher, and skill reinforcement with our Learning Lab during scheduled periods of time. Your classroom teacher will provide you with that schedule so that you have everything that you need.
First Day of School
Please take note that the "at home" learning portion of the day will be unique on the first day of school for all students. The activities will be emailed to parents prior to the first day of school. Parents will receive an email that includes video introductions from our specialists and first day of school activities to complete during the at home portion of the first day.
