January 2020
What's happening this month...
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome 2020! I hope you all enjoyed the time with your child(ren) over winter break. I thoroughly loved the time with my family- baking and eating goodies with them, enjoying movies, playing games, and just relaxing. The scale shows that I thoroughly enjoyed the food and relaxation. It’s time to get moving again!
We look forward to seeing our students return on Tuesday, January 7th. We missed you all! Students receiving special education services will have a progress report sent home on Friday, January 10th. This allows parents to be informed on the progress their child has made toward their IEP goals.
Our classroom teams have planned new learning experiences in addition to another family event. On Thursday, January 23rd, we will be hosting a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) night from 4:00-6:00 p.m. which will also include a family dance hosted by our PTO. Look for the RSVP with more information and be sure to join us for this fun event!
Our next PTO meeting will be held on Friday, January 10th from 8:30-9:30 in the conference room. I would love to see more of you join us as we plan for the dance. We’ve had a great turnout of parents at our PTO meetings, and I appreciate all the support everyone has given throughout the year. You all have gone above and beyond and have the biggest hearts!
The district will be hosting the second SEAC (Special Education Advisory Committee) meeting of the year on Wednesday, January 22nd from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in Conrad’s Cloud Room. If your child is receiving special education services, this is a great opportunity to gain more information about the services available at the school and within the community. There will be childcare provided and usually some yummy snacks.
This month we celebrate our school board members through School Board Appreciation Month. Fountain-Fort Carson School District is very blessed with amazing school board members who have the absolute best interest of our students, parents, staff, and community. You are welcome to attend the monthly School Board meeting on Wednesday, January 29th at 6:00 p.m. In addition, the next DAAC (District Accreditation and Accountability Committee) meeting will be on Wednesday, February 5th from 4:15-5:45 p.m.
I look forward to seeing you all or hearing from you as we begin back with students. I want to thank you for the wonderful year we have had thus far. 2020 is going to bring even more opportunities of growing and learning, but especially FUN! Here we go! Happy New Year!
Kindly,
Stephanie Lee

Weather and Recess
Please dress your child for the weather (hat, gloves, jacket/coat as weather appropriate) each day.
Please encourage your child to wear shoes with slip resistant soles so they can use the ladder and the “up” slide safely.
Conrad ELC utilizes the Child Care Weather Watch Guidelines provided by the Colorado Office of Early Childhood to determine indoor or outdoor recess
• Temperature and wind speed are used to provide three categories of safety
• Green zone- It is safe to be outdoors for the full 30 minute recess time
• Yellow zone- The teacher should use discretion in determining the amount of time a child should be outside. Recess will likely be shorter, but we do try to go outside for a few minutes.
• Red zone-Recess occurs indoors. We do not take children outside for recess.
