Agenda Discussion Items (if you have any thoughts to these, please share with your SLT representatives): grade level analysis of student discipline; Teacher Appreciation Week 2016; End of Year planning; update on bell schedule and teacher allotments; End of Year Checklists; planning for any continued ideas to help with EOG planning

ISS Adjustments

As some of you may still realize, Ms. Moore will be out for awhile longer as Jariah adjusts from her autoimmune disease illness that placed her in the hospital for almost 3 weeks. While Ms. Moore is out, we have tried in getting a substitute teacher for ISS. But here's the deal, since this is a TA position, the substitute gets paid significantly less than a teacher substitute position, so most substitutes will not "claim" this job, unfortunately. This is why we have not had a sub in Ms. Moore's classroom. Please know we'd love to have one, but we simply cannot pay the sub more (as we asked). So, we will continue with the current plan of placing students who receive ISS from an administrator in another teacher's classroom, as assigned by the administrator. We truly appreciate so many of you taking these extra students with positive and flexible attitudes! We have found that this system has actually worked well for now as students are more concerned about what their different grade level peers think about an ISS assignment. If you have any questions about this method of disciplinary action, please simply ask.

Appreciation Time

It's that time of year where we try to take time to honor various roles folks play in education. National Assistant Principal Week is April 11-15! Also, we will have a Concord Middle School Custodial Appreciation Day on April 20th. National Administrative Professional Day is April 27, 2016. National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6. National School Nurse Day is May 11, 2016. We've already had time to recognize our school counselors and our social worker. It's wild how many people we have at Concord Middle School that contribute to our students' every day success!
