Chippewa Valley Virtual Academy (CVVA) to be offered next school year
Parents looking to enroll their child in a high-quality all virtual education option for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year will have to look no further than CVS. The district will offer the Chippewa Valley Virtual Academy (CVVA) for students and families wanting to learn at home. Unlike other virtual options, the CVVA offers our top-ranked curriculum taught by our own highly qualified and caring CVS teachers.
For the 2021-2022 school year, we will offer in-person learning as well as the CVVA for all students K-12 grade. Chippewa Valley students will be automatically scheduled for traditional in-person learning. All students, regardless of their current learning model, must register for CVVA if they are seeking remote learning for the upcoming school year.
Families are asked to review the district website for detailed information regarding the CVVA. It is important that those interested make a commitment as soon as the registration window opens in Parent Portal. Applicants will be placed in the academy based on space and order of enrollment.
For the CVVA, elementary and middle school schedules will reflect a traditional schedule. At the high school level, courses offered will be based on the requests of those enrolling, and if we have enough requests to offer the course. This is the same process we use to schedule our in-person high school courses. Advanced course selections at the secondary level will depend on the number of CVVA student requests we receive. While some hands-on Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes or upper level CTE will not be offered, most will be part of our course offerings, but will only run if we have enough requests to offer the class.
After Spring Break, an enrollment form will be available on the CVVA website for you to complete if you are interested in the CVVA. To prepare for this process, it is required that you have an active Parent Portal account. If you do not have an active account, please use the attached directions to set up your account so you are prepared to enroll for the CVVA once the announcement to register is made.
We ask that parents carefully consider the CVVA as it is a year-long commitment. Students in the CVVA will begin virtual classes in September of 2021 and conclude in June of 2022.
For more information regarding the CVVA, visit our webpage.
If you need directions to create a Parent Portal account, go to the Parent Portal webpage.
The enrollment deadline for the CVVA will be May 7, 2021.
Thank you.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:
Class of 2021! Extra time for FAFSA! Deadline extended to May 1st.
Students who want to be given priority consideration for state of Michigan financial aid programs now have some extra time to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, according to the Michigan Department of Treasury.
Commonly known as the “FAFSA,” this application is a critical step when applying for grants, scholarships and other forms of financial assistance. Academic Year 2021-22 FAFSA submissions now received at the federal processor on or before May 1 -- rather than the original March 1 deadline -- are given priority consideration for the Michigan Competitive Scholarship and Michigan Tuition Grant.
“Completing the FAFSA should be on top of everyone’s list when applying for college financial aid,” said Robin Lott, executive director of Treasury’s Office of Postsecondary Financial Planning. “We are hopeful that this deadline change will help families who have been faced with challenges during the pandemic. Please do not delay and complete this free application today.”
Students who wait to complete their FAFSA after the new May 1 deadline may not receive all the financial aid they could have been entitled to receive.
Prior to completing the FAFSA online, the student and at least one parent or guardian must obtain a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) at www.fafsa.gov. This ID serves as a legal signature and confirms an applicant’s identity when accessing financial aid information through certain U.S. Department of Education websites.
To get started with the FAFSA, go to www.fafsa.gov. To learn more about State of Michigan scholarships and grant programs, visit MI Student Aid’s website at www.michigan.gov/mistudentaid.
