Bake or Cook with your child to help them with Math!
Math
This week we are covering elapsed time. That just means figuring out how much time has passed when given a start time and a finish time. They also have to figure out what time it is when given an amount of time and a start or finish time. (Ex.: At 12:30 we went to recess for 30 minutes. What time was it when we came inside?)
On Friday we will start Capacity and continue it the next week. This is measuring how much something can contain. We will start with cup, pints, quarts, and gallons. The students have to look at an object and estimate how much it can hold and whether it would be cups or pints. The best thing to help your child with capacity is to have them help you in the kitchen. Have your child measure things for you while you are cooking or baking. This will give them more exposure to these types of measurements.
Your invited to our Valentine's Day Party Feb. 13th at 1:00!
Science
We are back to science and looking at renewable and nonrenewable resources. We will talk about conservation and helping our planet. We will also look at patterns of change on our planet such as shadows and seasons.
