A Not from the Principal
Dear Parents,
Yesterday we did our monthly fire and lockdown drills. Each month we practice making sure we remain safe and secure during an emergency.During a fire drill the alarm sounds as it would in a real event. We exit the building as quickly as possible from designated doors. We gather by grade level to take attendance an ensure everyone is safe. We conduct the drills at different times during the day each month to prepare for all types of situations. Yesterday staff and students did exactly what is expected!
During a lockdown drill we prepare in the event that an intruder entered the building. Teachers have been trained to lock all the doors down quickly and hide with students. During this drill administration makes the announcement, "Locks, lights, out of sight" so staff know to secure doors, lights and students. Yesterday we did this drill during a transition period to prepare for all types of situations. Our staff and students did an amazing job! We did talk with students about how to keep themselves safe if they found themselves in the hall during an emergency. We discussed possible places to hide to be safe.
These drills and discussions are not intended to scare students or parents. Unfortunately current events across the world have forced us to prepare for the worst. Hopefully we will never need to use our practice but we are educated for an emergency event. It is our mission to keep the students and staff safe at all times.

Mid- Nine Week Grades
Progress Reports:
Thursday, September 13th is the middle of the first nine weeks. We will not be sending home paper copies of your child’s progress report. We are asking each family to log-in to Parent Portal and view the grades online. If you would like a paper copy request one from your child's teacher. Please keep in mind that the first nine weeks may not have as many grades as the following because not many grades were taken during the first couple weeks of school. During those weeks we were getting to know our students and their academic and social/emotional needs. You can view your child’s progress here Parent Portal https://parentviewer.pisd.edu/Login.aspx
In addition to providing direct access to our Parent Viewer information (grades/attendance), the Parent Portal serves as the primary resource for all of the services provided online to our parents. This site gives you direct access into your child's classroom information, registration to your child's campus eNews, district-wide information and links to other often used services.
