New Year!
Dear DSA community;
Happy New Year!
While the calendar changed to 2020 and signified the beginning of the "new" year we find ourselves right "in the middle" of this school year. Although "in the middle" of the 19-20 school year we can still use this time to treat it like a new year and refocus, re-energize, and either stay on track or get back on track.
The second quarter progress reports were completed recently. You still have time to raise your academic standing before the end of the quarter. If you are already on solid ground then you’ll want to finish the quarter strong. Quarter 2 ends on 1/31/2020. That gives you 4 FULL WEEKS!
Doing well in the new year starts with full attendance. Coming to school every day and on time is the foundation of a solid education. Working hard while you are here is the second piece to the puzzle. Come to school every day and work!
The Dearborn has the resources to support all types of students. Whether struggling or thriving or somewhere in between we can support your path. Please reach out to any adult in the building to look for support or encouragement.
We wish you all a good “new” year as we get back to work.
ACCESS TESTING BEGINS THIS WEEK...
Federal and state laws require that English learner (EL) students be assessed annually to measure their proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English, as well as the progress they are making in learning English. In fulfillment of these laws, EL students are required to participate in ACCESS for ELLs tests, which replaced MEPA tests beginning in the 2012-2013 school year.
ACCESS for ELLs are administered once annually in January-February.
At the Dearborn we will begin testing on January 7th.
