This Week's ASB Announcements

Thanksgiving Break

There is no school next week as all Vista Unified Schools are observing the Thanksgiving Holiday. School resumes on November 29th at 8:48 a.m.

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, we at Mission Vista wish all students and their families a wonderful, safe holiday break.

Progress Grades are Posted in Aeries

Progress grades for the 2nd quarter were published this past Thursday. Please be sure to check these grades in the Aeries portal. If you have any questions about your student's grade for a particular class, we recommend following up directly with the teacher as a first line of contact.

School Tours

MVHS has begun to host on-campus tours for prospective families, and we have six tours remaining. The purpose of the tours is to give potential incoming students and parents an in-depth overview of what MVHS has to offer ahead of the VUSD Magnet School Application window, which opens in January.

The tours include a brief informational session led by MVHS administration, followed by a student-led tour of the campus. See the flyer attached here for more details.

Tours will begin at 4pm in the MVHS Theater.

*Tour participants must wear a mask while on campus.

On-Site COVID Testing Available for Students

MVHS is excited to be able to bring on-site COVID testing from Inspire Diagnostics to MVHS Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm in our theater lobby.

When positive COVID cases are reported to the school, close contacts who are vaccinated are not required to quarantine; unvaccinated students are able to stay in school if they agree to test twice within seven days. Having the on-site testing location will hopefully provide a convenient option for families and will help us to keep students who are not experiencing symptoms in class.

Students must have parent permission to obtain a COVID test. Parents are able to pre-emptively provide that permission by completing this digital form.

Toward the end of November, this testing clinic will be available to students and staff from neighboring schools in VUSD.

Seniors: Fill out the FAFSA or Dream Act Application!

Seniors! Click here to find out more information about filling out the FAFSA or Dream Act application.

All seniors are encouraged to do this, regardless of family income status. All too often, students hesitate to apply for college because they think it is cost-prohibitive, and on the flip side, some students think their family makes "too much" to qualify for any financial aid. Frequently, this is not the case. MVHS encourages ALL seniors to fill out the FAFSA or DreamAct application to find out what financial aid for college exists for them.

Weekly COVID Cases on Campus

In lieu of sending all-school community updates for every case of COVID on our campus, I will provide a brief update for MVHS in the Wolf Pack Weekly.

During the past week (since last Friday), MVHS had 1new case of COVID-19 among students/staff.

School community members can also follow up-to-the-minute data on our District's COVID-19 Dashboard.
