Original Works Art Fundraiser
The annual Original Works art fundraiser is happening NOW! Your student should have brought their order form home this week! So check those backpacks!
For those of you who are not familiar with the program. The students create their artwork in art class, it is sent to a company for copying, and you can order your student’s artwork on different items. Items including, t-shirts, coffee mugs, ornaments, magnets, and much more. These make great Christmas presents and yes, orders will be here by Christmas break! Click here for informational video.
As most other things in the world, Original Works has transitioned their programs to online. Each student has a unique student code for their artwork. You can view their artwork with a small picture on the order form or use their code to view their artwork online. Carefully follow the directions on the front of the order form. All orders are either done online or by telephone. No orders and no money should come back to school. If you do not have internet and cannot order by telephone, think about coming to use the internet at MHLT while you pick up your student, or the Minocqua Public Library, or please contact Miss Christianson.
For ordering questions please call the customer service number on the order form. Any other question can be directed to Miss Christianson at kchristianson@mhlt.org.
Orders must be completed by Wednesday, November 28th!
The online program is a transition and new for all of us, so please read ordering directions carefully, ask questions, and be patient. It really is user friendly!
As always, thank you so much for your support to the art department. The fundraiser is used for supplies, artist in resident programs, and so much more!
Also, like and follow the Minocqua J1 Art Facebook page to get updates and keep up with ordering information.

Raising Caring Kids: What Am I Good At? Parents play a huge role in helping children develop healthy self-esteem. Parents are the first positive voice children hear. To build your child’s self-esteem, help them see what skills or activities they do well.
What we know: Kids notice how they compare to other kids their age. Talk about what they may notice. For example, you may say. “Sometimes it seems like it’s hard for you to read aloud. I’m sure you see kids in school who read easily, even if you don’t think they’re any smarter than you.” This opens the door for your child to talk about it. It may also encourage your child to talk about what he or she is “smart” at doing. Kids need to talk about both what they are good at and what is hard for them. A nice way to talk about skills your child is not good at is to give examples from family members. For example, maybe Mom always loses the car keys. Or Grandpa isn’t patient. Talking about those types of family examples is a great way to talk about strengths and weaknesses.
Try this: Download FableVision’s The North Star Smart Stars Survey app. The free app helps children see that there are many ways of learning and to identify their strengths. It also helps children see they can work on skills that are harder for them and get better over time.
For fun: Read the book “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds. This book is about a girl named Vashti who thinks she can’t draw. But, she overcomes her doubts and goes on to inspire others. It may take some time for kids to figure out what they are good at or what things they love to do. Help your child explore those strengths, and give them the time they need to do so. Finding and exploring their passion can build children’s self-esteem.
