Time to Give Thanks
Although I have not visited you in your classrooms nearly as often as I'd like, I do know that we are doing a FANTASTIC job of teaching our students at NC! Please continue to tell, document, photograph, email, and tweet the great things you're seeing in your classrooms, on the playing fields, on the stage--even in the courtroom (The Mock Trial team needs two more wins to advance to State!)
Now, as we get closer to Advent, let's make sure that we are not only developing our students' secular knowledge, but their spiritual base as well. Let's keep our mission in the forefront of our minds: to educate disciples in the heart of Jesus.
What does that mean to you? How can you bring Jesus to our students?
Staff Christmas Gathering
We will meet for Mass at 7:30am on December 23 in the Oratory. We will them have a meal together at 8:00 in the Parish Center. HS semester tests will then begin at 9:00am and run until 12:40pm.
Great Things are Happening!
- Video of our HS choir singing Christmas carols.
- Father Andrews' selfie with the congregation after 11:30 mass.
- 6th graders doing research for their saint presentations--they'll use apps like Slidely, Prezi, and Google Presentation.
- Biology students testing results of acid rain on plants.
- 8th graders reviewing presentation procedures in Mr. Randy Pospisil's room (check out the green wall in his room!)
- A cool "N-E-R-D-S" music video made by the Stanford women's basketball team.
- Pictures of the incredible One-Act play performance, including the honors for Daniel Roche and almost EVERY other cast member!
- Update on our UNDEFEATED Mock Trial team. They'll compete again Monday to see if they qualify for the state Mock Trial event.
- 6th graders working with Mrs. Wieser about being safe online.
- Pictures from Mr. Hale's 50th birthday.
- Pictures from our all-school House meeting.
- 1st grade Venn diagram work.
Thanks to all of you who are Tweeting these things. Keep it up! It is up to ALL of us to continue to tell (shout!) the good news about Norfolk Catholic.
Video Projects
Ashley Lammli has some video production and editing expertise and has expressed interest in helping us create some short videos. To start with, we'll have her shoot quick shots of our students and teachers--maybe answering questions like, "What's the best thing about Norfolk Catholic?" What's the best thing about Christmas?" or "Describe Norfolk Catholic in one word."
We'd prefer to film kids before school, before/after lunch, on the way to recess, during Homeroom or during study hall. We don't want to intrude on your classes, but we may have to from time to time. Thanks for your cooperation!
We may do other "silly" kinds of videos on students losing teeth or the number of red heads in our school. We are still brainstorming ideas about video topics we could shoot. I'd love to know your ideas about creating videos to further the NC brand and get our message out to people.
Ashely will also help create videos to feature our first-ever Hall of Fame class (they'll be inducted into our brand new Norfolk Catholic Hall of Fame on April 24).
