Harris and Me
By: Carolina Gonzalez
Vocabulary
Ubiquitous: Present, appearing, or found anywhere
Vagaries: an unexpected and inexplicable change in a situation or someone's behavior
Creosote: A dark brown oil distilled from coal tar and used as a wood preserve.
Setting
The book takes place in the 40's or 50's during the summer. The books main setting is the farm where the Larsen's live.
Characters
Vivian is one of the cows on the farm. She is a flat and static character. In the book it says that she has a bad temper and she does not like to be touched. In one of the scenes "Me" accidently runs into her and gets kicked by her, I think this makes her an antagonist character.
My Favorite Scene
My favorite part of the book is the first morning after "Me" gets to the Larson's house. He has to wake up very early and is told by Harris that he has to get downstairs before Louie eats all the food. Once he gets downstairs he meets Louie then Clair and Glennis serve their breakfast. Once the pancakes are set on the table Louie eats the whole stack in one bite. After several attempts at trying to get pancakes he finally gets some only to be rushed by Harris so they can start the days chores.
Purpose/Point of View
The purpose of the book Harris and Me is to entertain. The book is told from the 1st person point of view.
