Message from the Principal...
I hope you guys are well. I am so ready to meet each and everyone of you. This newsletter contains a lot of information. I know it is long but I wanted to be thorough and share with you information about each environment.
The first day of school is fast approaching! We are ready to greet our Lions virtually on Wednesday, August 12th.
First Day Attendance: Please make sure your child accesses class materials online Wednesday or you make contact with your child's teacher by email or phone that day. Without contact on the first day of school, we are required to unenroll your child. (This is true of absences on the first day of any school year.)
Every Wilkinson Teacher will offer two Zoom class meetings on Wednesday, August 12th, at 8:00-8:30 AM and 11:00-11:30 AM to take attendance. If neither time works for your family then please make sure you make contact with your child's teacher (phone, email, or Canvas/Seesaw) on August 12th before 11:59 PM.
Attendance after the first day of school will be taken daily based on their engagement. Your student must log on and participate every day to be counted “present”. Teachers will check attendance every day for the day before. So, your student has to log on and participate at some point during every school day (12:00am-11:59pm) to be counted present. If your student did not log on or communicate with their teacher at any time during that day, they will be counted absent for that school day. It is mandatory that CISD follow the attendance guidelines set by the State of Texas.
Students will be able to complete their assignments at their own pace throughout the day; however, each assignment will have a clearly stated due date.
Please continue to check the District's Roadmap to Reopening web page for updated information. Conroe ISD will share additional information in the coming days about the start of school.
We are excited and ready for the first day of school! The first day of school is one of my favorite days of the year. Please send first day of school pictures to contactwilkinson@conroeisd.net. We would love to see them! Your child's first day picture may appear in an upcoming Wilkinson Newsletter or on our Wilkinson Facebook page.
Stay Well,
Mrs. Stewart, Principal

Campus Planning Guidelines for In-Person Instruction
Wilkinson Elementary Protocols
General Information
- All parents and students are asked to self-screen for COVID-19 prior to leaving home each morning.
- Utilize good hygiene throughout the day.
- Practice social distancing as much as possible.
- At this time, third and fourth grade students in Conroe ISD will be required to wear masks at school. We highly encourage students in pre-kindergarten through second grade to wear face masks at school as well.
Masks or Face Shields
All students are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while on campus. 3rd Grade and up are required to wear a mask per CISD policy. This practice will help mitigate interruptions to in-person instruction. TEA defines "close contact" with an individual who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 as
- being directly exposed to infectious secretions (e.g., being coughed on while not wearing a mask or face shield);
- being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes, while not wearing a mask or face shield.
A student who is deemed "Close Contact" would require them to quarantine for 14 days and not be present for in person instruction. Continuously wearing a mask during the day will help your child to not have interruptions or changes in their educational setting.
Please label your child's mask or face shield on the inside and not the outside. This will allow us to identify and return any mask and also for security purposes.
Water Bottles
We are asking each student to bring a water bottle with their name labeled on it each day they come to school. Our water fountains are being fitted with touchless water bottle adapters. Don’t worry, we will have disposable water bottles for the days that you might leave them at home. Please limit it to water in the bottles to avoid messy spills in the classrooms.
Arrival Protocols
- Returning students, please take note: the car rider and bus rider lines have swapped. To drop off or pick up a car rider, please turn onto the side street (Stewart’s Crossing) by the school and enter the school lot on the right.
- Car riders will enter the cafeteria through the side of the school. The car rider line for drop off and dismissal will be moved to the side of the building to allow for greater safety of student arrival and dismissal.
- Bus riders will enter the school through the front doors. Busses will pull through the front parking lot and drop off at the front doors.
- Hand sanitizer stations at each entrance for students to use prior to entry. Staff will supervise arriving students to ensure hallway safety protocols are followed.
- Entry doors will be propped open for no touch entry. Staff present to prevent unauthorized persons from entering and will supervise all opened entry doors.
- Parents will not be allowed to accompany students into the schoolat any time, including the 1st day of school. If a parent needs to speak with the front office, please call the school and we will assist you.
- We encourage all students to wear a mask upon entry. 3rd and 4th graders will be required to wear a mask. All staff will wear a mask.
- Students will grab breakfast (if needed) and go to class to eat. Please plan to arrive with enough time for your child to eat breakfast before the start of the school day at 8:00. Students will not go out to the playgrounds before school.
Classroom Protocols
- Students will use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the classroom. Students may wash their hands in lieu of hand sanitizer when the classroom setup allows for hand washing.

- Ongoing instruction will be provided to students on appropriate hygiene practices as well as campus protocols.
Transition Protocols
- Students and staff will stay to the far right side of the hallways and throughout the campus to reduce the possibility of contact. Campus wide visuals and language will be used to remind students of this procedure “Walk Right, Stay Right”.
- Classroom doors will be propped open to reduce high touch areas when possible.
- Classrooms will stagger releases from each class (when traveling to common areas-lunch, recess, specials) to limit the number of students in the hallway during transitions, when possible.
- Students will use visual cues (arrows and dots) on the floor to assist in social distancing and relay hallway expectations of “Walk Right, Stay Right”.
