What's wrong with the World?
can it be fixed?
Who I am ?
I am Shyane Mora, i am 18 years old and go to F.L Schlagle. I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. i've seen many cruel things. Sometimes i feel like an alien because i feel like i see things that people don't ,or maybe it's just that i don't understand the way society works anymore. I see money taking over people's minds, acceptance affecting personalities, hearts being broken for fun. Am i the only one who sees it ,or am i the only one who just wants to do something about it? Somewhere in between seeing all of this vulgar activity and watching my siblings learn how to walk and talk, as the oldest, I developed this dream. My dream in life is to make a difference in the world. I know it sounds crazy, but all i want to accomplish before i die is make this place a little better for my four siblings. There is one problem though, i'm not sure where to start, what the problem is, and even i'll be able to change anything.
Why i chose this question?
I chose this question because Somewhere in between seeing all of this vulgar activity and watching my siblings learn how to walk and talk, as the oldest, I developed this dream. My dream in life is to make a difference in the world. I know it sounds crazy, but all i want to accomplish before i die is make this place a little better for my four siblings. There is one problem though, i'm not sure where to start, what the problem is, and even i'll be able to change anything. I have all intentions in pursuing my dream. I was raised not by a loving family showing me the difference between right and wrong, but by watching everything around me, kind of like monkey see, monkey do. From what i remember, the characters who pulled hair, cut up front of the line, and put gum in girls' hair ,or any of those type of things were usually the villains. I realized when i was at a very young age, that today's world is nothing like the tv shows i would watch, people don't talk disagreements out, individuals blame each other for their own mistakes just to make themselves feel a little better, I figured out people weren't like Spongebob where he wants to just spread joy around Bikini Bottom, nowadays all i see are Squidwards, Mr. Krabs, and even Mrs. puffs. So back to why i chose the question, I chose it because I want my siblings to be free like Sandy Cheeks, Spongebob, or even Parick. I want the world to be happy and prosperous like the 1920's, I want to know I left behind a good place for my brothers and sisters to live in.
What I hope to gain?
I hope to gain a starting point. In order to pursue my dream, first i need to know where to start. I want to know what is really wrong with today's society. I want to gain a little hope that yea, I can actually make a difference. With research and from past experiences, I want to gain others' attention and show people that there is actually someone out here trying to make this world a little better and hope they listen to me and involve themselves. I want to gain the confidence that the blacks had in Martin Luther King Jr. when he told them he wants to change the way colored people are looked at. I'm not saying I'm ready to rebel against the government, but I want to start something that others follow and hopefully someday we'll be close to being called a Utopia.
What I hope others will gain?
I hope others gain another perspective on how today's generation is functioning. We are shocked when other's don't know terms like "bae" or "fleek" as if it should be common sense. I want others to think about the world and see how damaged it's gotten since we were kids. I want each individual who sees this to look in the mirror and actually ask themselves if they are contributing to this horrible epidemic of self absorption. Overall, I just want to give a wake up call that this world is getting worse and worse each day and only humanity itself can change that.
The Process (Start)
In order to start my process, I did a basic survey utilizing Facebook. I asked a basic question what does society want to see change in the world. I got all types of answers, from basic health issues like healthier food should be cheaper than fattening foods to the current war across seas, greed, the government, etc. So with this survey i've found multiple problems in today's world. So now that our generation today has identified problems, why can't we fix it?
Bob Marley's message
Today's generation, everyone knows who Bob Marley is. What we only seem to recognize him for is smoking marijuana, but there was so much more to him than that. Bob Marley didn't care for money, or fame. His music was his way of speaking to the world & getting everyone to see life can be plentiful even when you don't have much. As he puts it in this video, "My richness is life, forever."
Bob Marley: My richness is life, forever.
Discrimination
So, I wanted to explore what other problems that could affect today's society in a negative manner. Above is an article where a lawyer has a proposal that kills all gays and harms any one who allows gay behavior. This article is basically describing a law where it is legal to kill human beings because they are different. Why do we try so hard to eliminate diversity? It is 2015 and we still act
The article above talks about a man being false imprisoned for 39 years for a murder he did not commit. The reason he was convicted was because of an eye witness that lied in his statement. The police of Ohio asked the witness why he falsely accused the man, the witness replied, "I wanted to help the police close the case.
Veterans are abandoned by their country
Veterans who fought in the gruesome Vietnam war returned to nothing. It is outrageous how thousands of men put their lives on the line for the U.S and are welcomed back with not enough money to live off of, injured, and homeless. It's crazy how this country can ask for brave souls to step forward, and reward them with nothing but a "Thank you for your service."
The man on the Golden Gate Bridge
"One day, a man jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. When the police were searching through his house after, they found a note that said, ‘Today I will walk to the bridge. If anyone smiles at me, I won’t jump."
Next Step
because of the man on the golden gate bridge, i want to help others be kind. i want to make this world a little less cruel. I plan on participating in the Make A Person Smile Challenge. I want to show the less fortunate people ,or wounded out there that there are still people that care about others.
Prince Ea
Prince Ea's video shows how toxic our society has gotten. I've looked up a lot of possibilities for why our world is trash and a very common one that keeps popping up is society itself. Are we the one's damaging this world?
Why I Got Rid of Most of My Friends
Music is Trash that is put in our minds?
What has music come too? We have rappers that we can't even understand, we have simple kindergarden songs that make millions? what's wrong with us that we find such nuisance sounding music to be so popular?

Discrimination
Discrimination, everyone believes is still around. do you believe it is? what i see in this video is a crooked cop. everyone sees a black man shot & white officer behind the trigger, but what does color have to do with it? the ONLY reason discrimination is still around because we believe it is.
What Would You Do?
i wanted an honest opinion. So i utilized facebook again in order to have different perspectives.
let's play a game!
describe this picture.
Do you know who he is?
My favorite quote.
So what's the answer?
in order to find the answer to my essential question, i decided to look at all the problems and find the common factor. From war, discrimination, greed, and violence, the answer i found to be is us. Call me crazy, but i believe that if we are just a little kinder to each other, we'd be a little happier.
WHat's the solution?
When it comes to a question, there always has to be an answer. somewhere, anywhere. it can be all detailed and difficult to find, or it can be as simple as the 2+2, but people just like to make up different answers like fish or something. the solution didn't just come to me, i learned it. The answer is to just be kind. Everyone wants to blame someone, but if we just hugged instead of fought, we'd be a little happier in messed up situations. You don't need a cape to be a hero. they are all around us, nurses, lawyers, and teachers.
