2020 Graduation Update and Information
We are pleased to finally announce the details and specifics around the Grand Valley High School Graduation for the Class of 2020. While we want this to be a memorable experience for all, our goals and continued focus will be on the graduating seniors especially during this time of uncertainty and mounting restrictions. The details and specifics around the 2020 Graduation have been worked out following the guidelines set forth by the Colorado Department of Education and then by submitting a plan to the Garfield County Public Health Department which has been approved. The staff at GVHS is pleased to live and work in a community that has come together to create a ceremony that is positive and equitable for all under the restrictions and limitations that have been set in place. We thank our community, families, and most importantly our graduating seniors for their patience and perseverance! It is because of this the Class of 2020 will be a beacon of hope that shines bright in a time that has been a little dim. We look forward to the leadership and grit provided by the CLASS of 2020 for years to come!
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!

High School graduation is an exciting time for our students and families. We are doing our best to honor our Cardinal Graduates, while also following social-distancing requirements. In order to best prepare to meet the needs of graduates and families, please read the state-level guidelines below and fill out this survey by Wednesday, May 20th.
We are requesting vehicle information to prepare assigned parking spaces in order to ensure we have enough room for parking and to create the best viewing experience as possible given the restrictions. We will only have room for one vehicle per graduate. (Those with extenuating circumstances, based on graduate parents only, may request an additional vehicle. However, due to limited space, any request may be denied.)
Please note that variance requests outside of what is listed will not be considered.
The Drive-In Graduation experience for our graduates and their families will have to follow very specific guidelines:
- "Groups" (as in groups of 10 or fewer) are defined as participating in the same event/activity. For example, multiple groups of 10 or fewer all participating in a graduation ceremony, even if groups are distanced from each other, would be considered the same activity and still be limited to 10 total individuals.
- families must stay in their car for the ceremony. (No sitting in the backs of trucks or outside your vehicle in lawn chairs as this would pause the ceremony)
- graduates will walk across the stage while adhering to social distancing requirements (All participants outside of their vehicle must wear face masks, a social distance of 6+ feet at all times between individuals)
- only 1 car per graduate will be able to attend the ceremony
- we will feature a virtual graduation ceremony with a stage and large screen projectors for speeches, dedications, and student videos
- according to state guidelines, sharing or exchanging materials of any kind poses an increased risk for transmission/spread of COVID-19 and must not occur (this includes throwing graduation caps, gifts, flowers, etc).
- the venue for this event will be located at the Grand Valley Recreation Center Parking Lot.
Please note that variance requests outside of what is listed will not be considered.
Please limit ACCESS to the Vehicle Registration form to the assigned school email of 2020 graduates only.
