Principal's News
As a Lutheran College, we learn about the symbols of Lent. The Lenten symbols include ashes, the cross, the crown of thorns Jesus wore when crucified, bread, wine, fish, and palm leaves. Each symbolises an important piece of Jesus' time in the desert leading up to his crucifixion, as well as his resurrection on Easter Sunday three days later. These symbols represent different and important parts of our Christian story.
As families, we have different symbols and celebrations that are unique to our stories and our history.
For us, as we spent our long weekend enjoying the sounds of the ocean, relaxing at a campground, we got talking about what represents our family, our story. Our family traditions, the symbols we have and the customs we follow, even the scars that we hold, all combine to make us who we are.
How lucky we are as Christians, to have Jesus as a part of our story, to have Jesus die for us and save us our sins. And the best part? The ultimate symbol of our lives, Jesus, lives in us and through us, He goes with us in all that we do.
May this Season of Lent be a time for you to appreciate the symbols and traditions of your family and the lives that we can so freely live.
Blessings,
Mrs. Eloise Beveridge
Principal
Primary News
With the launch of our TLC App and The Vine, it has been amazing to see our community embrace it with open arms. Our learners have enthusiastically welcomed The Vine in efforts to better serve their educational experience. As a teaching cohort it has also been exciting to see all our teachers ready, prepared and willing to engage with The Vine – a learning tool designed to make the learner’s journey rewarding not only for them, but their families too. But though it has been a good start, anytime change is experienced, we sometimes also tend to shy away, without giving it a chance, because it is different.
I’m a big believer in personal growth. As a colleague once said, “I’d rather be green and growing than ripe and rotten.” It’s a sentiment I share. So, I am always keen to push myself out of my comfort zone to learn new skills and gain unique experiences.
But big changes can be hard. It’s a bit like being tossed into the deep end of the pool where you spend a lot of time trying to keep your head above water and focus less on the style by which you are swimming. In those times, I’ve struggled, fallen, dusted myself off, pressed on, and, yes, even persevered. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. I grew in great measure, and it gave me the confidence that I could take on any role and be successful.
Trinity over the past few years has embraced changed, and though at times it may have been hard, it has been great to see how we, as a college, come together and look to do it together as a community.
I hope all families enjoyed the long weekend and on behalf of the Primary team, we look forward to this second half of our first term!
Take Care,
Mr. Ryan Fowler

Year 9 Community Project:
The Year 9 cohort have been looking at ways they are able to assist the community. With the recent earthquake in Suyria they chose to coordinate a casual day and other activities. The money raised from the gold coin donation and the ‘coin chain’ will be passed onto ALWS to distribute to the relevant agencies coordinating relief in Turkey.
Year 4-10 College Swimming Carnival:
The Year 4-10 College Swimming Carnival was held in perfect conditions at the Red Cliffs Pool. With a fantastic attendance and optimal participation on the day proved to be a successful one. The pleasing aspect of these events is the opportunity for new experiences and the opportunity to support their House in their participation.
Final results saw Mitchell take home the trophy (again), with Sturt close all day, then followed by Deakin and Chaffey.
Congratulations to all who attended the day and to the age champions.
District Swimming Carnival
The District swimming carnival was held at The Waves and the College had many excellent performances. A small squad of 28 swimmers from Year 7-10 represented the College. Their effort on the day saw many great results and we finished 2nd in the Schools Competition. Sam Mills and Danika Garner both had very good days taking home Age Champions.
The Regional Carnival was held on Tuesday 14th March at Swan Hill and a squad of 12 represented the College. Danika & Sam will compete in individual events, while we have teams in the 14yo Boys and 14 & 15yo Girls relay. Results will be in our next edition of Trinity Connect.
Camps – Year 7 & 8
The Year 7 and 8 camps are fast approaching. All permission forms should have been returned and further information in preparation for the camp has been sent home this week. Camps are a great opportunity to enjoy new experiences, but to also build on relationships and develop new ones. Both camps are intentionally very different, but do offer many great learning opportunities.

Welcome to our new Trinity Staff
This week we introduce the awesome, Dr Timothy Wong. Dr Wong shares the following with our Trinity community:
I am a secondary science and maths teacher. I am married to Phillis and we have two boys. I have a doctorate in the field of materials engineering and prior to teaching I worked in research and development of nano-structured light alloys and hydrogen permeation membranes.
My hobbies include soccer, traveling, learning about new cultures, languages and sustainable architecture. I would like to thank the school community for their warm welcome and look forward to transferring my passion for learning to my students.
We thank God for the blessing of our new staff and the way they have settled into our college.
Grandparents/Special Friends Day
Last Friday was AMAZING! Thank you to our Grandparents and Special Friends who came along to share in our day. The College was abuzz! To see our new courtyard full of guests was heartwarming.
Mrs Rhodes and Mrs Nitschke led our awesome staff team in organising the day, how lucky we are to have such wonderful staff, thank you to you all.
If you haven't had the chance to see the fabulous video 3/4A put together about grandparents, you can check it out here:
