August 2014 Orientation for Freshmen
The freshmen arrive at LHS for a few hours, a week prior to the first day. They come to the library to learn what they can accomplish here. They view a digital poster known as Glogster http://colonelslib.edu.glogster.com/library-orientation/ to discover how the library can help them complete a successful high school career.
September ~ Off to a Slow Start
Fall semester switched gears quickly to prepare for executing 5 days of MAP testing in the library. Keeping up with the technology and having knowledge of the test, library staff were able to assist teachers and students through the first roll out.
Open Season begins September 10th
Full house as our 103 computers began buzzing. The ipad cart has made itself at home in the social studies classrooms. Social Studies classes frequently share ipads amongst themselves. Headphones are the must have this year.
Open Monday-Tuesday-Thursday 7:30 AM to 3:15 PM. Wednesday till 2:45 PM and Friday till 2:15 PM, including both lunch waves.
Holocaust Study
Library opened to two groups of Social Studies students, about 70 in each group. They were attentive to Henny, a survivor, and Ben an Army liberator, telling their stories of WWII.

Naviance Surveys
We support Guidance when they ask Seniors to complete Naviance surveys. The Library staff Manages computers so 70 students are able to complete the online survey.
English 11 Short Story Thesis
Collaborated with 11th grade English classes and ran a 'Speed Dating with Short Stories'. It brought a fresh face to locating a short story for further critical study. The librarian spent entire blocks with 11 English classes after having pulled 100 anthologies with 300 specific stories tagged and ready for a quick read.
Business Club Event
Arranged space on the library calendar so the Business Club could host a speaker from Men's Warehouse discussing interview skills.

Digital Literacy and the Tools Used
In addition to curating digital sources, the library continues to collaborate with teachers to purchase and teach; Taskstream digital portfolios, Glogster, WIkis, Google Drive, Easybib, & Turnitin. The library staff also tutors students in Microsoft Office Tools, inquiry, & site evaluation.
