Hugh Hartman Dec. Newsletter

Dear Families

2022 is quickly approaching! I continue to be amazed at the amount of support and dedication from our school community.

Students have settled back after the week vacation. Your students are working hard to learn from their teachers, peers and each supportive adult at home.

Family engagement Surveys

Please forgive me for sending two DIFFERENT surveys in one newsletter!

Let us know how you would like to engage at Hugh Hartman Elementary. We are seeking feedback and working on formalizing a parent lead group at Hugh Hartman. Joining a formal group is not the only option. Thank you to the 5 parents who completed this form PTC Family Engagement/ Information Form.

You are an educational partner and we would like your feedback concerning how involved and informed you are currently at our school and your students' learning progression. Family Survey Thank you to the 60 families who responded after conferences.

Jaguar Popsicle Party

Our district and school goal is to have students attend school 95% of the school days. Currently, Hugh Hartman’s attendance rate is 93%. I have a challenge for our Hartman families! A school wide popsicle party will take place if we can grow to 93.5% between now and December 17th. We value everyone Here at Hugh Hartman Healthy!

$$ for jog-a-thon

We are so grateful and thankful for all your support in our fundraising efforts! With your help we were able to raise a total of $13,336. We could not have done this without all your help and support, and the kids sure enjoyed having you cheer them on from the sidewalk! Here is how Hugh Hartman plans to budget the money:

- $350 per teacher

- $2,667.33 to playground equipment - Gaga pit

- $1,333.66 to special guest/unique opportunities

- $1,333.66 to physical education/equipment

- $1,333.66 to our school library

playground

We are adding a GAGA PIT to our Westside playground soon thanks to the fund raising support from the Jaguar Jog. We are all patiently waiting for a projected shipping date on the swings and the large climbing structure.

Big picture

Hugh Hartman Bilingual Library

The Hugh Hartman Bilingual Library continues to be blessed with more upgrades. 100% of our furniture has arrived, the RSD district leadership team found a way to have the space painted last week, books continue to arrive, the art installation plan has been approved and our library checkout system is almost ready for students and teachers. The current book collection is 3,000 titles and our goal for the 2021-2022 school year is 5,000 books meeting 50% English and 50% Spanish criteria. Our library design has the capacity to house 10,000 books. This is exciting!

opting out

We love to share the joyous moments our students and staff have during our school hours and after school events. We understand that not everyone would like to participate in having their child photographed. If you would like to opt out, you do need to submit it in writing on a yearly basis and return to our front office. Please understand that this excludes your child from participating in things like Lifetouch pictures, class pictures, yearbooks, graduation programs, etc. For more information on this please click HERE to view the policy in the student rights and responsibility handbook.

19th Street parking lot reminders

  • Supervision begins at 8:55am and ends at 9:10am. Students that are dropped off early are expected to wait safely and kindly at their grade level location.

  • When driving through the drop off, please please pull your car all the way forward towards the exit onto 19th street

  • Students enter and exit from the passenger side of the car

  • Please do not block the crosswalk or unload your student in front of the crosswalk

family engagement & evening events

It is so exciting to see a grand majority of our families joining us for our evening events! We are so appreciative of your continued support towards these events and the enthusiasm you have to be involved. If you haven’t done so already, please make sure to fill out both of these family engagement surveys if you have not already.

Hugh Hartman event parking after school hours will be held in the parking lot off 19th street. Our building is shared with other community members and the 19th street parking lot is much larger. We continue to have many of our families attend family engagement events and feel this parking lot will meet our needs more efficiently.
