Negotiation
On September 3, 1783, the British and the Americans signed the Treaty of Paris .In the treaty, Great Britain recognized the United States of America as a nation. The treaty also set the boarders for the United States. Ben Franklin was one of the three representative's the others were John Adams and John Jay. For us to get the most out of the treaty Ben and the others had to out maneuver and best Britain and not compromise for nothing less of what we deserved.
The document
Heres a quote from the Treaty of Paris ensuring the friend ship between us and Great Britain. My favorite part of the treaty."United States of America, to forget all past Misunderstandings and Differences that have unhappily interrupted the good Correspondence and Friendship which they mutually wish to restore; and to establish such a beneficial and satisfactory Intercourse between the two countries upon the ground of reciprocal Advantages and mutual Convenience as may promote and secure to both perpetual Peace and Harmony; and having for this desirable End already laid the Foundation of Peace "
Land Claims
For helping us in the war we give the Floridians back to Spain. We got all the land from Georgia in the south to the Great Lakes in the north. The Mississippi River formed the western border. With the land we have we can now flourish with the reality of independence.
