A Message from Miss Buchko
Dear MacArthur Families,
I am so excited to share that we have for the first time ever a Chess Club here at MacArthur for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. What is so exciting about this club is that it was totally initiated by a few students who had an interest in Chess. These students approached me and asked if they could have a Chess Club. I told them they could if they could find a sponsor. A special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. MacPherson and Mr. DeYoung for agreeing to be the sponsors of our newly formed Chess Club. We have 35 students in the club and it is so exciting to see their passion for Chess.
Have a Great Weekend.

Parents/Guardians,
Did you know that students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay on track, successful, and engaged? What can you do as a parent to limit the number of absences for your child?
- Help your child maintain daily routines, even on the weekends
- Try not to schedule dental or medical appointments during the school day
- Don’t let your child stay home unless they are truly sick
- Check your student’s attendance regularly to ensure absences are not piling up
Having good attendance is not just absences, tardies can impact your child’s education greatly too! Please look at the image and see how tardies and absences, even in elementary school, can have long term impacts on your child’s education and future.
Have a great weekend,
Ms. Bellamy
