Thank you to Big Brothers and Big Sisters! Our PTO raised money during the month of December for BBBS of Scott County and our Student Council officers presented the check today.
We are in need of a coach for our 2nd grade basketball team. If you know of anyone who is great with kids, responsible, patient, and has a love of helping develop young basketball players, please contact Kathy Napier at VFES. (812-752-8925)

Re: Principal Advisory Panel
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wanted to take this opportunity to share some exciting news with you that we anticipate will make VFES an even stronger school family. We have created a Principal Advisory Panel that consists of a group of individuals, that not only represent the school in various capacities, but also parent involvement.
The purpose of the panel is to bring parents and school employees together to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other’s perspectives and share ideas for improving student experiences and performance and creating a strong school culture. There will be a suggestion box located by the sign in sheet by the office for your input and these will be reviewed during each meeting.
Our Principal Advisory Panel, will meet monthly. We will focus on approaching school-wide topics and suggestions from a holistic approach, ensuring the engagement of parents, teachers and additional school personnel. We will share best practices in addressing these items, and we will continue to look for ways to improve the overall school culture at VFES. What this panel will NOT do is discuss individual situations, again our focus is only on school-wide topics to improve our school.
The Principal Advisory Panel for the 2018-19 school year consists of the following members:
Principal: Tiffany Barrett
Teacher: Lindsey Cazares
Teacher: Liz Wimp
Support Staff: Tonia Helton
Support Staff: Kathy Napier
Counselor: Breanna Vaughn
Parent: Jeanie Allgood
Parent: Beth Garten
Thank you in advance for your active support of this newly formed panel and your continued support of VFES!
Warmly,
Mrs. Barrett and the Principal Advisory Panel

Snacks
Many of our classes offer a time for students to eat a snack if they choose to bring one from home. We do not supply these, so if your child does not bring one, he/she may not get a snack during that time. Please send in snacks if you would like for your child to have one. If you would like to donate snacks for those who do not have one, please send those to your child's teacher.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is our popcorn charity for the month of December!
We now have an additional lunch option on Mondays and Fridays for the students of a pizza Lunchable. Yum!

Volunteers at Vienna-Finley
Volunteers are important to the success of every school in Scott 2, such as helping with classroom activities, chaperoning field trips, or even just having lunch with your child. If you'd like to volunteer or visit our schools, we ask that you help us keep our school safe by submitting the required background check. The DCS portion of the check can take some time, so please make sure you submit all paperwork by September 14, 2018, even if you don't plan to help at the school until next spring. Completing all background check requirements by Sept. 14 will ensure the process can be completed in time to participate in a school activity. Any submission after Sept. 14 may delay the process and delay participation in a school school activity. Thank you for your planning and assistance.
Let's Talk Safety!
All morning car riders should be dropped off on the west side of the building by the doors that lead into the gymnasium. Our doors open at 7:30 A.M. Students should not be dropped off in front of the building. At the end of the day all car riders should be picked up on the west side of the building. Please do not come into the office at the end of the day unless you are signing your student out early for an appointment or if you have made prior arrangements with the office. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our students safe and making the drop off and dismissal process run smoothly.
Please be sure to contact the school early with any schedule or transportation changes and always have the car tag visible in your windshield. This helps the line rum smoothly and ensures that your child get into the correct vehicle.

Let's Get Connected!
We like to send home communication, newsletters and reminders often via email. Please call the office and have Mrs. Napier add your email address to your Harmony Family Access account if you haven't already. If you do not have an email address and would like help setting one up, we would be more than happy to assist you. Many people have email on their smart phones and that works great for home/school communication too! Just let us know how we can help. We would love to share the great things happening at VFES with you!
