Veterans Day - October 11th

Clinton-Massie High & Middle School is encouraging our students to invite a veteran to campus to join us for breakfast and/or lunch as well as a Veterans Day Assembly at Clinton-Massie Middle/High School on Monday, November 11th.

Students along with their veteran guests, and any other family members such as moms and dads are encouraged to attend this opportunity. Our goal is to honor and thank our veterans while also creating a great learning experience for our students to better understand and appreciate the sacrifices of our service members throughout our nation's history.

The events we’ve planned for the day are as follows:

The breakfast begins at 8:30am - 9:30am at our CMHS Auditeria. (There is no cost for the breakfast. We ask that you RSVP for the breakfast by completing and returning the registration information linked below by Thursday, November 7th so that we know how much food to prepare.)

The Clinton-Massie Veterans Day Assembly will begin around 9:45am for grades 6-12. (CMHS Gymnasium for about 1 hour).

Students and their veteran guests along with any family present are also welcome to stay with us for lunch in the HS Auditeria. Opportunities for family dining on the stage and the Auditeria will be provided to students starting at 11:00am. (There is no cost for the lunch. We ask that you RSVP for the lunch by completing and returning the registration information linked below by Thursday, November 7th so that we know how much food to prepare.)

Students at Clinton-Massie Middle School take the NWEA’s Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test to help teachers measure student performance and growth, make informed decisions about student learning, and differentiate content and instruction. The MAP test is also an approved test from the State of Ohio for identifying students who are gifted in the specific academic abilities of reading and/or math. A student is identified gifted with a score in the top 95th percentile. Students are tested using the MAP test 3 times a year. They are tested at the beginning of the school year as well as during the first two weeks of January and May. If you have any questions or concerns about MAP testing, please don’t hesitate to contact CMMS Principal, Lorinda Ottaway.

Living In Our Pillars

In addition to adding a few new things to help us define our culture, pillars were set to help us support our goals. These pillars are responsibility, respectful, safe, and problem solver. We, as a building, are living in these pillars in order to hold ourselves and others accountable. We have asked everyone in the building; students, teachers, administrators, etc., to pause and reflect on our pillars before we react to any situation. This language is being used as a guide for discussions of all kinds. These pillars can be applied to all areas of our building: the hallway, during assemblies, in the cafeteria, in the classroom, on the bus, in the restrooms, and even with our devices.

We are respectful! We are responsible! We are safe! We are problem solvers! Go Falcons!

Needs:

  1. Do you have old technology you would like to get rid of? We have students that would like to take it apart! Seriously, if you have old tech that students can tear apart and explore, we are in the market. Please send it in and have the students take it to Mrs. Ford's room.
  2. We also are trying to collect $5-$10 gift cards for student incentives. Please send these to Jill Wilkinson in the middle school main office.
  3. I am looking for some ideas for the Staff Member of the Month initiative.
  4. We need consumables like markers, glitter, glue, posterboard, paper for our Cricut Machines, vinyl for the Cricut Machines, fabric for sewing, thread, buttons, etc. I could go on and on. Mrs. Ford would probably take anything you offered.

Thank you all for being so supportive. We appreciate your desire to be a part of the middle school experience. We need you! Our next Coffee Talk will be January 10th. I would love to get some ideas for some fundraisers!
