The topic of Full Day Kindergarten (FDK) has been something the Board of Education has openly discussed and contemplated this school year. At this meeting, District 25's Director of Facilities, Ryan Schulz, District 25's Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, and Superintendent Dr. Lori Bein presented the Board with 5 Facilities Options for Full Day Kindergarten in District 25:
- Option 1 | Elementary school building additions
- 1A) Build additions at all 7 elementary schools
- 1B) Build additions at 5 elementary schools; 2 currently have capacity
- Option 2 | Building additions at a northside school and a southside school; redistrict
- Option 3 | Building additions at South MS and Thomas MS; move 5th grade
- Option 4 | Construct a new Kindergarten Center
- Option 5 | Construct a new elementary school; redistrict
The Board discussed these options and decided to focus their discussions and the District's efforts on the following two options moving forward:
- Option 1 | Elementary school building additions
- Option 3 | Building additions at South MS and Thomas MS
As said in previous meetings, the Board remains committed to make a final decision in March 2022.
