2nd Grade ELAR

Week of November 29 - December 3, 2021

Hope everyone had a wonderful week off and a great time with friends and family for Thanksgiving. We have 3 weeks until Christmas break. So excited for the holiday time but also excited for all the learning we will be doing for the next 3 weeks.

What We Are Doing This Week

Reading:

We will be reading "How to Catch Santa". As we read we will be making predictions, learning about Author's Purpose, looking at the story elements, and learning about cause and effect.


Phonics:

Lesson 46 - Spelling with ke and ve

Lesson 47 - Vowel y /i/

Lesson 48 - Vowel y /e/

Lesson 49 - Spelling with long e


Writing:

We will be looking at text features and how they help us in our reading and writing.

Reindeers with be our focus for the next 3 weeks.

Cursive: Letters a, d and g



Grammar:

Learning more about punctuation and contractions. Students will work on what type of sentence they are reading or writing. Is it a sentence that needs to end with ?, ., or !.

Also, learning how to take two words and use an apostrophe to make then in to one word, a contraction. (ex. did not - didn't)
