Understanding Common COVID Scenarios (Updated from Last Week)
Next Steps for Common COVID Scenarios
Since my update last week, the guidance and decisions trees have changed--namely as it relates to quarantine procedures. Scenario #3 is the MOST common and has changed most dramatically. Students who remain asymptomatic after exposure are welcome to return. A test on day 3-5 after exposure is recommended.
- My student has COVID-19: Return to school on Day 11 after the onset of symptoms or date of COVID test OR have student test (PCR) on Day 5 after symptoms or positive test result.
- My student is exhibiting symptoms associated with COVID-19: The student may return to school after receiving a negative COVID test (PCR) and with improved symptoms.
- I was notified that my student may have been exposed to COVID: Your student (whether vaccinated or not) may return to campus if he/she is not symptomatic. A condition of remaining in school is to obtain a PCR test within the Day 3-5 range after exposure. Parents should report positive test results to the school.
- My student has had COVID within the last 90 days: If your student had a lab-confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis within 90 days, and he/she is not symptomatic, your student is not required to quarantine or test. Please contact our Health Office to confirm the diagnosis and date range.
COVID Testing on Campus
Vista Unified has several additional testing sites operating across the district as well. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

Academic Planning Sessions
Seniors: Fill out the FAFSA or Dream Act Application!
All seniors are encouraged to do this, regardless of family income status. All too often, students hesitate to apply for college because they think it is cost-prohibitive, and on the flip side, some students think their family makes "too much" to qualify for any financial aid. Frequently, this is not the case. MVHS encourages ALL seniors to fill out the FAFSA or DreamAct application to find out what financial aid for college exists for them.
