The Bulldog Briefs Walker Newsletter, November 3, 2023

Walker Bulldog Familes,

We made it to November! October was such a busy month. Please see all the event pictures below from many events that are happening at Walker.

We are seeing an increase in student absences and students arriving late to school. I will begin to schedule meetings with parents for those chronic cases. Please be aware that instruction starts right away. It is important that students arrive on time and ready to learn.

Below you will also find information with some upcoming events and reminders for the month of November.

In Partnership,

Mr. Jeff Moore, Principal

PBIS November Celebration

Walker has another PBIS celebration scheduled! Data suggests that students need some support in peer relationships. This is the skill we will be focusing on in November.

The criteria to be part of the celebration is below:

1 major/ 3 minors: No celebration

1-3 minors: Missing part of the celebration

We will be celebrating with a team building minute to win it competition. The entire school will report to the gym and compete against each other in fun filled and wacky games. Classrooms should do your best to wear these colors:

Please encourage your students to have positive peer relationships.

Message from our Social Worker- Mr. Hofer

Dear Parents

We are off to an amazing start of the school year. It’s awesome to walk around Walker and see smiling faces. We want to see all smiling faces every day! Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. This includes tardies as well! Tardies = time missed and it adds up quickly. If your child is missing too much school, please reach out! We can help!

In Partnership,

Mr. Hofer

Message From Our School Nurse- Mrs. Vazquez

Hello Walker families,

As we enter flu season, please instruct your student to cough and sneeze into their elbow as well as wash their hands frequently to stop the spread of infection. Refer to the link below for helpful tips.

Flu:

If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please contact the school nurse. They are able to return to school on day 6 if symptoms are improving. Masking is recommended on days 6-10. Day 0 is considered the first day of symptoms or the day the student tested positive if asymptomatic.

As always, please contact Walker's main office with any questions! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
