He is owning his education in this Distant Learning platform, setting up Zoom conferences with his teachers when he needs assistance, and showing organizational skills to keep up with all his assignments. Way to go, Brian!
Marieliz Morales - She was extremely helpful to her 8th grade friend that was feeling very overwhelmed. She helped her create a plan that would work and reached out to the 6th grade ELA team to see how we could help her as well. She is an amazing student and friend!!!!

FHSAA Update on Spring Sports & Eligibility
The FHSAA has decided to cancel all FHSAA affiliated events, inclusive of the state series and all championship events, for spring sports. The safety of our student-athletes, coaches, officials, and fans is our top priority.
Under the guidance of the Florida Department of Education regarding grade level retention, and upon review of the Florida Statutes and FHSAA Bylaws, no additional eligibility will be granted for spring sport athletes. For clarification regarding student-athlete eligibility, click here.
To all our senior student-athletes, we thank you for dedicating your time and efforts to your school, your coaches, and your teammates. Cherish the memories you have made and embrace all that the future holds for you. While we are saddened that you are unable to compete this season, we could not be prouder to have been represented by such hard-working individuals.

Warning to Students Working Ahead in myLearning
Students as you may be aware, you are permitted work ahead in your distance learning courses. There are plenty of positive benefits in doing so, mainly to finish early. However, please heed these warnings to prevent any issues:
- If you choose to work ahead in the course (beyond the assigned work for that current week), your work may not be graded within the 48 hours time frame. Teachers will be grading the current week's assignments first and then moving onto the advance submissions if time is permits.
- Please know that discussion questions will only be answered for the current week's assignment. So if you have a questions about an assignment in Week 2, but we are only in Week 1, it will not be addressed until Week 2.
- Please remember to check your work and submit all work before moving onto the next assignment. If an assignment is skipped and you do not complete it, it will be entered as a zero if you move forward and submit other assignments.
- Finally, many of the courses' later modules are missing content. Therefore, if you choose to move ahead, please continue to check and see if additional content and/or activities have been added that is required for you to submit.

Senior Announcements!

Testing
All standardized testing including FSA/NGSSS and end of year District Finals have been cancelled by FLDOE. The SAT School Day for Juniors originally scheduled for March 25th has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
- Current seniors: If a senior is expected to graduate in spring 2020 and has not met the exit criteria for Algebra I EOC and/or Grade 10 ELA FSA, or earned a concordant score, this criteria will be waived. However, students still must earn the necessary credits and meet the GPA requirements to graduate.
- Non-seniors: The Department is waiving the requirement for non-senior students who are currently enrolled in a course that requires an EOC to take the associated EOC. However, non-seniors who have yet to pass the Grade 10 FSA ELA must still meet the exit criteria by passing that assessment during a future administration or earning a concordant score. Though non-senior students enrolled in the EOC course of Algebra 1 are not required to take the Algebra 1 EOC, they must still meet the mathematics assessment graduation requirement by either passing the Algebra 1 EOC (offered four times each year) during a future administration, earning a concordant score, or passing the Geometry EOC during a future administration.
- 30% for final grade: For students currently enrolled in courses that include a statewide EOC to be factored into the student’s grade, this requirement will be waived. Districts have the discretion to determine whether district-developed EOC assessments are necessary for these courses for the 2019-2020 school year and as a District, we have cancelled District Finals as well as State testing for the Spring 2020.
Tips for what to do without a printer
Included below are ideas, tips and tools to support students who have assignments to submit, but no printer. Flexibility should be offered to students in manner/format of work submission. It is the evidence of learning that is important, not the exact template or graphic.
There are several options to work without printing:
- Using the Canvas App to Annotate Documents
- Users can also select from any number of apps and programs for this purpose, including:
- Adobe Acrobat DC
- PDF Candy
- Students can take a screenshot and use markup and paint programs to edit on screen.
- Students can write responses on a piece of paper at home, take a picture and submit
- Instructions for annotating in Canvas are included in the course help files for students
