The Family Flyer

March Edition

The Family Flyer is created by Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) Early Literacy and Math coaches and coordinators. Our hope is that parents and caretakers, countywide, take advantage of the resources to support their kindergarten through third grade children with academics, nutrition, and well-being. New events and resources will be published monthly. Please contact Education and Learning at the GISD if you have any questions. The contact information is located at the bottom of this flyer. It is our hope that you find this resource useful and fun. Enjoy!

Games to Play

Alphabet Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe with a twist! You can print the boards from this link OR create boards of your own. Find five markers for each player like buttons, coins, scraps of colored paper, or paper clips. Here's the twist: If you want to play on a certain spot, you have to think of a word that starts with that letter. Once you think of a word, say it, and put your marker on that spot. The first player with three markers in a row, wins the game.

Click on the Tic- Tac- Toe board to link the website to print boards and a variety of games.

Resources for Families

Michigan Educational TV During the Covid Crisis

Detroit Public TV responded to the learning needs of families with children at home as a result of Michigan schools being closed due to COVID-19. DPTV has been curating resources from across the PBS system.

All of these resources are appropriate for infants through 12th grade and have been compiled over the past several months. They are now consolidated into one searchable database. Click on the picture for more details.
