A Note of Gratitude
During the month of November, Edison teachers and students are reflecting on what we are grateful for. We are so grateful for the joy and innocence that our students bring to us each day. They are the driving force behind all things that happen at Edison Elementary! Our Eagles are oh-so-loved!
We're also so grateful for our Edison families, who partner with us in educating our Eagles. Thank you for all you continue to do each day to ensure that your children are loved and well-taken care of!
We would also love to hear from our valued families and community about what/who you are grateful for at Edison Elementary School.
Please take a brief moment to express your gratitude to our amazing staff by completing the google form linked below. Your words of appreciation make a great impact on our climate and culture. Thank you! :)
I will share all of your responses with the staff throughout the month.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wiegand

Our Canned Food Drive Was A Success- THANK YOU, EAGLE FAMILIES!

Our Edison community really rallied together to support this collection. Thank you, Edison families, for your generosity! We're so proud to be Edison Eagles!
Winter Tree Drive- Nov. 28-Dec. 9
Items collected will be donated to local families in need.
The winter tree drive will take place from Monday, November 28- Friday, December 9.
Thanks, in advance, for any items you're able to contribute.
Edison Families In Need
If your family is experiencing any type of hardship this winter and could benefit from being a recipient of items collected, please complete this form to let us know and we'll reach out to you if any items are available.
4th, 5th, & 6th Graders- Save The Date: Holiday Concert on 11/30
Ready or Not: Cold Weather Is Here!
We're starting to see MANY students bundled up each day, which is great! Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the winter.
Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season
Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10+ degrees.
Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons
SECOND STEP SEL CURRICULUM K-8
As you know, in September we kicked of the Second Step Curriculum in all K-8 classes to further strengthen our social and emotional learning. Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with a variety of social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Twain to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
This week, each grade-level will begin a new unit. Please view the grade-level home links below to learn more about what your child is learning and how to support them at home during the second unit of Second Step.
Important Parking Lot Reminders
Here are some important parking lot reminders:
1) Please refrain from honking your horn at other people in our parking lot. It causes stress and anxiousness for our kids and families, as well as bystanders. Remember, we're all here for the same reason.
2) Please travel 5 mph or less through our lot.
3) Please come to a complete stop at the stop signs coming in and out of our school parking lot, along with those in the neighborhood.
4) At arrival, if you're using the small curbside drop off area, please be sure to pull up next to the curb (so as not to block through traffic). Please be sure that your child is able to get out of the car independently. Also, encourage your child to be ready to get out of the car as you approach the drop off area. If your child needs you to assist them, please park your car in a parking spot, help them, and walk them up to the school.
5) At arrival, if you're behind someone using the small curbside drop off area, please be patient. Their "little person" is trying their best to gather their belongings and get out of the car to start their school day. Please don't honk at them. This is stressful for kids.
6) At dismissal, please don't stop in the middle of the lane to wait for your child to come out. This holds up many cars behind you.
Please review the procedures for these "problem areas" below:
Sub Leading Into Parking Lot
Curbside Parking Area
No Stopping/Parking Here
No Stopping/Parking Here
No Stopping/Parking/ Curbside Drop Off Here
Bus Lane
Be Mindful of Stop Signs in the Subdivision
We're working with the Fraser Police Department to try to get this problem under control, as the safety of our Eagles is the most important thing.
Weekly Character Club Awards
Throughout the year, we will be honoring our students with Character Club Awards. Teachers are already working to determine students that exemplify all of the different character strengths for the whole year. Each week, we will be distributing Character Awards to some of our students. At the end of each month, student award recipients will have a Character Club lunch together to celebrate our positive character!
Below are the winners for this week's Character Trait.
