The BIG EVENT!
Monday – Pajama Day – Don’t sleep in on March 21, give back to your community!
Tuesday – Hat Day – Hats off to the Big Event!
Wednesday – Sunglasses Day – Our community is so bright, we need to wear shades!
Thursday – Pop in and show your community spirit with service! (Students will receive a Blow Pop.)
Friday – Cowboy up for our community! Wear your cowboy/cowgirl gear!
All proceeds will go to support the Big Event activities. While next week we are raising money for the event, the Big Event is not until Saturday, March 21, 2015. That day will start with a pep rally for the entire east zone, and then the schools will participate in different community service activities.
Indian Creek Elementary's School-Wide PBL Begins!
Our entire school is participating in a multi-faceted project based on the book, The Sandwich Swap by Queen Rania of Jordan Al Abdullah. Each grade level will be working on different aspects of the project in the coming weeks. Fifth grade began their portion of the project on Friday, October 31st and we are now in the PBL homestretch!. The students have completed their research and the first activity. Next week, the students will be re-grouped and will then collaborate to create a healthy school lunch menu featuring foods that are influenced by various cultures prevalent in the United States. We are so excited to see the final products!!
Lunch Bunch & Open Tutoring
Hello parents!! In an effort to help kiddos who are struggling to get their work completed and turned in on time, or who might need additional help with understanding what they're learning, we are offering a "Lunch Bunch" and "Open Tutoring" times throughout the week. Below, you will find the times and locations they are able to come in and get additional help with any late or missing assignments.

- Tested successfully with no breaking of LISD supervision and management systems. Confirmed basic functionality and Air Server is working.
- Fixes the Student Gallup Poll QR code/web link problem. It works properly with IOS 8.1.

This week in ELAR
We will have our first Reading CBA (Curriculum Based Assessment) on Tuesday.
This week we will begin learning about MORAL and THEME and how to find them in various stories using text evidence. Our big focus will be understanding, making inferences and drawing conclusions about theme across various texts and genres. We will also continue learning about subjects and predicates in sentences.
Please continue to make sure your kiddo is doing their daily reading log and logging at least 20 minutes of reading a day and completing iStation on Wednesdays! I have really enjoyed reading their logs each week and seeing their thought process!

This week in Math
We will start to study the division of larger numbers (up to 2-digit divisors and 4-digit dividends). Please practice the basic math facts with your child at home. Knowing the multiplication and division facts makes it easier to solve long division problems.
