K-3 Assessment Days
All K-3 students will be contacted to schedule an appointment on ONE of the three assessment days listed above to take the following assessments with their teacher in the virtual classroom: Reading levels/Running Records (K-3), Dibels (K-2), Sight Words (K-2).
MAP Assessment
The MAP assessment is an adaptive assessment that we give to students three times a year. The assessment measures student growth in Reading and Math and tells us where students are ready to learn. It will take your student approximately 30-60 minutes to complete each assessment. ALL students will get 50% of the questions correct and 50% incorrect on the MAP assessment. Parents, please do not help your student during the test as getting questions correct, that the student can not answer for him/herself, will only make the test more difficult. For more information on the MAP assessment please click here. To take the MAP assessment students should attend their regularly scheduled Reading and Math virtual lessons.
Delayed Start Procedures
In the event of inclement weather, please note that on a West Chester (East) delayed start day all K-5 virtual lessons that begin BEFORE 10:00 am will be canceled. Virtual lessons that begin at 10:00 am or after 10:00 am will be held as scheduled. Please refer to the Moodle homepage and Remind text for delayed start alerts. If our Pittsburgh office is on a delayed start, all virtual lessons will proceed as scheduled.
Students do not need to make up a virtual lesson that is canceled due to a delayed start, however students are encouraged to come to another virtual lesson that week if possible.
Virtual Lessons
If school is not held on your student’s virtual lesson day, the virtual lesson does not need to be made up. Students who miss their virtual lesson due to school closure may choose to attend another lesson that week. Please contact your teacher to make arrangements.
