Dear Families,
As this emotional week comes to an end, I know the tragic event at Robb Elementary is still in our thoughts and heavy on our hearts. As more information has come out and I have heard the stories of the children and the staff heroes that sacrificed to save them, I am reminded of the extraordinary responsibility we have to do whatever it takes to protect our children. We are convening a team now to help us continue to review and enhance our safety measures. We will share updated information as we have it. We want our schools to continue to be safe places filled with joy, laughter and learning.
Award Nights
A number of events this week allowed us to focus on the goodness of humanity and the joy in our district community:
On Tuesday, the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce and Rancho Santa Fe Security hosted the annual Salute to Education event where they honored site Teachers of the Year and 6th Grade Chamber of Commerce Students of the Year. It was a well attended event with dignitaries, families, and district staff.
Congratulations to three dedicated individuals that were recognized this week at the North Coastal Consortium of Special Education (NCCSE) Annual Award Night. It was truly a banner night as EUSD earned three awards of the 20 presented! The stories of these everyday heroes made such a lasting impression on me. We are fortunate to have them in EUSD.
Hudson Sullivan - Supportive Student LCH
Libby Travella - Collaborative Parent (Libby also serves as the President of EUSD’s Special Education Parent Council)
Aubry Magoon - OPE Instructional Assistant
California Student Media Festival
Congratulations to the following students and school sites that earned awards at the California Student Media Festival on Saturday, May 21st. The California Student Media Festival seeks to transform K12 student learning, recognizing creativity and student agency through the cultivation and celebration of original work. EUSD Film Guild Students achieved the following for this festival. Seven EUSD films were nominated to attend the festival as finalists. Those EUSD films received six awards and TWO received the Grand Prize. See below for the film titles, the school, the award, and the URL link to the film. This is the most awards we have received in one year. We are so thankful to our Film Guild Mentors and to Heather Hultgren who oversees the program.
