Parents: Help Needed
Each year we ask parents to complete a survey on behalf of Puckett's Mill Elementary. The Georgia Parent Survey closes tonight at midnight (February 28) and contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey, as the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below.
Georgia Milestones Assessment for Students in Grades 3-5
Our students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking the spring Milestones online. Our students will have opportunities to practice using the tools in the digital platform here at school.
In addition, parents, students, and educators are welcome to use a practice site to see what testing online is like. The items on the demonstration tests are organized into grade bands: (Grades 3-5, 6-8, and High School).
The Test Practice is available daily from 7 am to 10 pm Eastern time. Note that Google Chrome is the only supported browser for this public version of the DRC INSIGHT test engine. If you are using a browser other than Google Chrome, copy the link below into Google Chrome.

Counselor's Corner
Parents, as you may have heard through the news media, there has been some inappropriate and dangerous content embedded in seemingly kid-friendly YouTube videos and on the YouTube Kids website. As always, awareness is the first step in keeping our children safe.
The following are some safety recommendations for basic student technology use at home:
- Keep the computer/devices in a central and open location.
- Stay in listening-range when children are online.
- Install a filter and turn on safe-search options.
- Discuss what to do if your child sees something inappropriate (Don't delete or turn off the device, and tell a trusted adult).
- When using Youtube, approve certain "channels" that you have checked. Students who click what looks interesting may come across inappropriate videos.
- Turn off the location feature on student phones.
News from the Cafeteria
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In order to comply with United States Department of Agriculture requirements regarding the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, we will no longer be able to accept a caregiver note to accommodate for lactose intolerance. If you would like for our program to accommodate your student with soy milk, bottled water, or daily juice, we now require a note from a state licensed medical provider. We do offer a 4oz water on our lines at no cost that all students may pick up if they so choose, or juice on those days which it is offered. In addition, we have bottled water available for a la carte purchase.
If you have any questions you can contact Taylor Blake at (678) 301-6238 or taylor_blake@gwinnett.k12.ga.us.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your support of our School Nutrition Program.
Sincerely,
Taylor Blake, MS, RDN, LD
