Fourth Week of Virtual School
Dear HSES Families,
This week brings a few changes. There are still two times a week a child can check in with a teacher. However, beginning May 18th, students will have a Homeroom/ELA check-in and a math check-in each week. The check-in time will increase to 30 minutes to allow for more interaction time between students and teachers. The morning check-in time will be for homeroom/ELA and the afternoon check-in will be for math. The days of the week and times currently used for your child's check-ins will remain the same. Teachers communicated these changes with parents this past week. Here is a summary by grade:

Mathematics Check-in: Tuesday afternoon
Language Arts/Content Check-in: Thursday morning

Positive Office Referrals
Throughout the year, your child had the opportunity to receive a positive office referral for following the 3Rs - being respectful, being responsible, and being ready. We have started virtual positive office referrals, and your child may hear their name on a video message from administration! Don’t worry if your child hasn’t gotten one yet. There are many more opportunities remaining! Teachers will send the video either through an announcement or on their ELA homepage! Go Huskies!

Help with Read & Write
How do I know my child has submitted their assignment?
As was previously shared, students now have a completion button to press as they finish their lesson activities for science, social studies, related arts, math, writing and SEL. Parents can monitor and check their child's completion of these tasks after logging into their child's Canvas page and following the steps detailed in the tutorial video listed below. We hope this helps!
Requesting a laptop for your child
If your child needs to request a HCPSS issued device, please follow these steps:
Log into HCPSS Connect (https://www.hcpss.org/connect)
From the left menu on the bottom, click on “Student Technology”, then choose “Student Technology” near the top center of the screen.
On the HCPSS Student Technology screen, use the drop down arrows to indicate the Technology Requested for you child. The changes are saved immediately.
The request list will be synced with the distribution team by 8:00 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and you will receive a communication with pick up instructions. If a student already has a device issued, the request will not be processed.
