Weekly Updates from Seaborn Lee, 12.01.17
Greetings Parents/Guardians,
It was another great week of teaching and learning at Seaborn Lee!
Title I Parent Resource Center
Greetings,
My name is Ms. Da Silva I am the Parent Liaison at Seaborn Lee. My job at SLES is to bridge the gap between schools and families. When schools work together with families to support learning, children are driven to succeed.
The Parent Resource Center at SLES is here to support families and their child’s academic growth. The Parent Resource Center provides a variety of academic tools, games, informational pamphlets, and a selection of books. Parents may check out materials on a biweekly basis from the Parent Resource Center to reinforce their child’s learning at home.
Up and coming events:
- Giving Tree
- In celebrating Parent Engagement Month SLES will have a giving tree! Teachers and staff members have requested wishes to be filled by families. Wishes range from class room items needed to volunteer tasks. Families and the community are encouraged to visit the Giving Tree and pull a wish. The Giving Tree will be located in the front entrance. Wishes are due Friday, December 22nd.
- Compacts & Parent and Family Engagement Plan
- The School Family Compact is an Agreement to share responsibility for improved academic success and is developed with input from families, teachers, and students.
- Students and families must sign the cover page of the compact and return it to the school.
- The first homeroom to return all of their Compacts will receive a special treat!

Georgia Parent School Climate Survey
School climate refers to the quality and character of school life – the “culture” of a school. A sustainable, positive school climate fosters youth development and student learning, which are essential elements for academic success, career-skill improvement and overall quality of life. The School Climate Star Rating helps determine whether a school is on the right path to school improvement.
School climate ratings are based on survey results and data from the school year, and each school is rated on a 1-5 scale, with five stars representing an excellent school climate, and one star representing a school climate in need of improvement.
The Georgia Parent Survey gives us our climate star rating for the school and can be found on the CCRPI report. You can take the survey from your personal computer or stop by the school to use one of the computers in the parent resource center. For the last two years we have scored 3 stars (out of 5). We have an awesome school, parents and community and our goal this year is to reach 4 stars.

Attendance Updates
At Seaborn Lee we are closely monitoring student absences and late arrivals to school (tardy). Please make sure that your child arrives to school by 7:40am daily. We have noticed a large amount of students who are car riders arriving to school late. If your child plans to get breakfast from the cafeteria, please drop them off in plenty of time to maneuver through the cafeteria lines and make it to class before 7:40am. The breakfast line closes at 7:35am. Our teachers are eager to begin instruction at 7:40am. We begin the day with our Response to Intervention (RTI) block where students spend time working on specific skills for remediation or enrichment. Students who arrive to school late miss out on this valuable time. In order to see even greater student academic gains this year, we need all students here on time every day.
It is also critical that you send in a note the next day whenever your child is absent. Student attendance is a critical factor in academic success thus we are asking for your support and assistance with sending your child to school every day.

Fulton County Strategic Plan 2022
In early 2017, Fulton County Schools (FCS) began work on a new strategic plan, which will be rolled out at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year. Our district's plan will serve as a guide and a focus for our work as a district and community for the next five years. It will help ensure that all stakeholders in the community – from the School Board, to staff, to principals, to teachers, to students, parents and community members – are working toward a shared set of goals and priorities.
Read the Strategic Plan here: FCS Strategic Plan 2022
Members of the Board of Education have worked closely with the Superintendent to identify a goal that articulates what should be true for FCS's graduates and a set of focus areas that will help us achieve that goal.
