Principal's Message
Dear West TV Families,
Thank You Volunteers
Thank you to our volunteers who spent an hour with us on Thursday being entertained with songs and poems of gratitude and thanksgiving. We appreciate your dedication to our school and students. If you were unable to attend, we have some modest gifts next to the sign in computer just for you.
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” ~ Dr. Seuss
Thank you for making West TV not just better, but the best!
Student Volunteers
Did you know that Catlin Gable sent over 18 middle school students to volunteer at our school one morning in early April? They spread wood shavings, read with kids in classrooms, and completed many small projects. On April 19, 7th graders from the International School of Beaverton (a school in our district) will be sending students over to do stone painting with second graders, earth spheres and systems scavenger hunt with fifth graders, and reading with Kindergartners.
Smarter Balanced Assessment
We have started the Smarter Balance Assessments and will spread the tests out over the next several weeks for our 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Parents often ask how they can talk to their child to prepare them for standardized testing. This link will take you to a no-nonsense article from the US Department of Education. Helping Your Child with Test-Taking – Helping Your Child to Succeed in School.
We have a warmer weekend ahead of us. Enjoy!

We'll have pizza for sale! This is a school wide fundraiser to support our wonderful 5th grade class that will soon be graduating from West TV. Take the Annual Parent Survey
Please take a few moments to complete the BSD Annual Parent Survey during the month of April. The survey helps us to evaluate our progress in educating your child and planning for the future. Our goal is to ensure that every member of our school community feels welcomed, valued, and informed, so it is important for all parents/guardians to complete the survey. The survey data will be summarized so that each person who answers will remain anonymous.
A link to the 2017 Annual Parent Survey was sent to all valid parent email addresses via School Messenger on April 3, 2017. The deadline to participate is Friday, April 28, 2017.
