2022 Combo Classes at KJ

Classes begin the week of August 15th!

Big picture

HIP HIP HOORAY!

We are thrilled to begin our fall dance season next week, August 15th! Training and teaching our dancers is one of our greatest joys, and we look forward to seeing each of them walk through our studio doors next week.

Our Combo teachers are trained in teaching and loving on some of our youngest dancers. The Combo program will be an hour class each week that will consist of 1/2 ballet and 1/2 tap instruction.

Through the use engaging music, your dancer will come to life in the studio. Our wish is that each dancer that walks through our doors will fall in love with dance, look forward to coming each week, and will build confidence in the classroom.

What should my dancer wear to class each week?

Combo dancers will wear pink tights, a black leotard, and a bun or their hair. Please make sure that each dancer has a bun in their hair each week, as this is part of teaching them the class etiquette in a dance class. If you make it to the studio one week, and need hair supplies, please stop by the office.

Please have dancers bring their black tap shoes, and pink ballet shoes in their dance bag, and wear their street shoes to class each week.

Will my dancer have a recital at the end of the year?

YES! All combo dancers will be a part of the KJ Concert at the end of the year. Combo I, II, and III classes will have either a ballet or tap dance in the concert. If your dancer is a Combo IV dancer, they will have two dances, both ballet and tap.

What if my dancer wants to take another class each week?

Many of our combo dancers will take an additional jazz or hip hop class. Both of these classes pair well with the combo class they are enrolled in. The KJ faculty works hard to set a schedule where dancers can take classes back to back. If your dancer would like to add another class to their schedule, please look at the schedule...right before or after the class you are enrolled in. Many times there is a perfect class they can take. The office staff is happy to help you with scheduling as well!

If your dancer took a combo class, and another class, they would have two dances in the end of the year concert.

What if my dancer has trouble walking into class the first few weeks of class?

KJ faculty understands that sometimes our youngest dancers need to acclimate to their environment, and feel a sense of safety and security before they are willing to come alive in their classes. Each teacher has worked with all ages of dancers, and is willing to work with your dancer each week. We look forward to making each and every dancer feel comfortable and welcome. Often times it does take a few weeks for dancers to feel comfortable, so if your dancer is hesitant the first few, please give us at least a month. This is our 30th year, so we have seen it all, and it is such a joy to us after a month to watch the nervous dancers come to life.

Thank you for trusting us with your most precious little ones. We are honored your at KJ!

Is it too late to ask a friend to join?

No, it's always more fun to dance with your friends. Enrollment is open for several months, and we would love to have your dancers invite their buddies to join! Enrollment is online at kjdance.com, or they can email the office for assistance.

What if my dancer misses a class?

We would love to see your dancer make up a missed class in another Combo class. If your dancer is sick or out of town, please go online, and schedule a makeup class that works best for your family.
