Douglass Elementary School

Huntsville Elementary School
Students in Mrs. Knight’s fourth grade created examples of Piedmont Native American homes!
Mr. Evans’ third graders took a delicious look at fractions this week using pizza! Students were able to practice identifying parts of a whole and even named equivalent fractions. This was a lesson his students will not soon forget!
Huntsville is excited to welcome our new guidance counselor, Marianne Taylhardat, or Ms. T! We are so glad you have joined the Huntsville Community!
Huntsville celebrated the 100th day of school with some special 100 year old visitors. We had a great time! It’s always great to have our favorite sub, Granny Perdew, on campus!
Huntsville’s PTA hosted a Valentine Dance for our students and their guests! The event was a great success with special memories made while dancing, enjoying Chick-fil-A and visiting our fantastic photographer Debbie DelaCruz!
Special Shout Out to our community volunteer, Ruth Williamson! She is helping to sponsor the Huntsville Chess Club that meets twice a month. Mrs. Ruth is a blessing to our school, helping out in PreK and in the after school program, as well!
Leaksville-Spray Elementary School
We celebrated all throughout the building Leaksville-Spray Elementary for the 100th day of school! We celebrated the 100th day of school with feeling 100 years older Second graders completed a "100 Lick Challenge" for the 100th day of school!
LSE staff had a "Soup"er Bowl party on Friday February 10th to celebrate the big game!
Thank you to Trinity Wesleyan of Eden for our "Cold Cup" gifts that were given out to our staff members who greet our students outside every morning! We greatly appreciate your support!
We celebrated a second and a third grade class with an ice cream party for being our top classes to achieve our PBIS goal for the second quarter!
Leaksville-Spray Elementary School provided gifts for its hard-working bus drivers and monitors throughout Love the Bus Week to show its appreciation! The Leaksville-Spray Elementary PTO provided breakfast from Chaney's on February 15 for all bus drivers and monitors. Thank you to our transportation crew here at LSE and the other schools who share with us!

We have some exciting news! Eric Dooley, former LSE student and current sophomore at MHS, has completed his Eagle Scout project! This project is a book box for our students, community, and is located in front of our school. We are so excited to have this opportunity to provide our students another way to develop a love for reading. Thank you, Eric! We already have had a few friends visit our new lending library!

Williamsburg Elementary School
We are so proud of our rich history at Williamsburg Elementary School! The Greensboro News and Record recently did a feature on Williamsburg and its status as the first public school in North Carolina!
Rockingham County Schools
RCS is proud to announce that three of the district's wrestlers have won individual NCHSAA 2A state championships tonight at the Greensboro Coliseum! Congratulations to the wrestling programs at Morehead and Reidsville High Schools!
Morehead High freshman Eli Horton claimed the championship in the 2A 106-pound weight class, completing an outstanding 42-2 season with a dominant 9-1 major decision victory over Gabe Rogers of Seaforth High School.
Another Morehead High wrestling star, junior Jared Thomas, won the NCHSAA 2A state championship in the 120-pound weight class in dramatic fashion. After Thomas took the early lead against Spencer May of Trinity, May rallied to tie the match at 5-5 and force a sudden death overtime. But in the overtime, Thomas attacked and got a dramatic two-point takedown, which won him the state title by a 7-5 score. Thomas, a junior, went 34-5 this season.
Reidsville High star Rayshun James won his second straight NCHSAA 2A state championship - this time in the 126-pound weight class - with a strong 7-0 shutout victory over Walker Bell of West Craven. James, a junior, went 37-2 this winter for the Rams.
Congratulations to the RCS individual state champions, and all of the other RCS wrestlers who competed this week at the State Championships!
In tandem with the RCS All-County Chorus Performance at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, Rockingham County Schools is proud to showcase the amazing artwork of our students throughout the district with our annual All-County Art Show, which will be held at Morehead High School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 10!
