Monday Morning Motivation
Central Elementary News-February 19-23
Be the Calm
Dear Staff,
As our children come to school on Tuesday, please be mindful that many parents may not have turned off the television news when they walked in the room. I have no idea what our children have been exposed to regarding the events in Florida. My heart aches for the students who worry as well as our staff because many of these stories have been so hard to hear. In talking with my own daughter, who is a first year English teacher, I know safety is on your mind.
Please take a moment to review our safety protocols. We will be discussing this at our next faculty meeting. Having a plan in place, which we do, is the best way to combat feelings of anxiousness. This is especially true for our students. Remind them that we have a plan for all emergencies (fire, tornado, lockout and lockdown) and we have practiced all of these. We have security officers and Mr. Green who check our doors and help up front. If parents contact you with concerns regarding our safety plan, please make me aware of how you replied to their concerns, keeping me in the loop.
Additionally, as you review your emergency plans, make sure these are clearly marked and easily found in sub plans. Although Jacki and I touch base with our subs new to the building, I encourage you as teammates to reach out to those subbing in your grade level to make sure they know what to do in the event of an emergency.
Remember, "There is no better sight than a child smiling while they are learning." Let's make our students smile this week!
Have a great week!
Julie

Please continue to promote this habit and let Guy, Amy or me know if you need disinfectant wipes. It is important we all do our part to keep our school germ free.
