New Prospect Elementary School Staff Notes
Staff Spotlights
Our Panther Pride Winners this month are Carol Moore & Kevin Pham, Kataurus Braswell and the 1st Grade PLC.
Every time I have walked into Carol and Kevin’s room the students are engaged in meaningful work. They have gotten great at Units of Study already! They have been very flexible in getting use to working together and working with a tough group of kids!
There are not words to describe how patient and giving Kataurus has been since we ended school in May. He led his short-staffed team in getting the building ready for us! He always has a positive attitude and great work ethic and has become such an important part of our family!
The first-grade team has rocked it so far this year! They have persisted through multiple changes but have gelled as a team and are getting things done not only in planning and PLC time but when we have done walkthroughs we have seen a very high level of instruction. Great Job 1st Grade!

College Week 2018
We will celebrate College Week at New Prospect from Monday September 10-Friday September 14th! This is a time for you to reminisce about your college days, share collegiate experiences with students and promote your alma mater. We will be celebrating in the following ways:
Door-decorating contest for all staff members
Staff members and students decorate classroom or office doors displaying the colleges they attended or a college you currently cheer for.
Displays can be as simple as a college sign or pennant, and can also be very informative, including college mascot, colors, majors, sports, etc.
Doors will be judged on FRIDAY 9/14 in the morning based on creativity, information provided and student involvement.
Winners be announced on the news on the following Monday morning, and there will be prizes awarded!
College bulletin board all about our staff
We want to learn about YOU and share interesting facts with our students!
If you did not do this last year, please complete this super short survey ASAP by clicking on the link: https://goo.gl/forms/yqNqJWRZ3Ioglc4N2
Sharing college facts on morning announcements for students- students can complete a survey for a prize – students can pick it up from the counseling suite starting 9/10 & return it by 9/14

All staff can wear a college t-shirt Friday 9/14
The purpose of facilitating College Week at New Prospect is to provide information about post-secondary education to our students and help them build the connection between their current studies and options available to them in the future. We want to help our students be “college and career ready,” foster an interest in different colleges and universities, and also allow staff members to have fun celebrating the start of college football season!
Questions/concerns? Let me know!
Thanks,
Christina McLeod
PAWS PD- Integrating Technology into RUOS/WUOS
In this session, you will learn how to:
- Create a Google Slide Lesson Guide for each unit. (This will really help your lessons flow, and stay as close to 10 minutes as possible!)
- Create assignments that correlate to each of the bends in the unit (and they can even be embedded into your Google Slide Lesson guide so you know exactly when to give the assignment!)
- Have students use Google Slides to organize their writing
- Conferencing via Google Docs/Google Slides
- And more!
