Hello, Parkwood Families!
Happy March! I am so happy that spring is right around the corner. It seems we have avoided many major weather issues this winter and hopefully that will continue for the next few weeks.
We have many activities and events scheduled throughout the month of March. The month of March focuses on the Character Education Pillar: Fairness. Being a fair person means you treat people in a way that does not favor one person over another. At Parkwood, we celebrate fairness by looking for opportunities to include others, listening to our friend's thoughts and ideas and congratulating others when they do well. Please wear orange on Wednesday, March 2 to support the color that represents Fairness. The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is this week and will run until Friday, March 4. Our 5th grade D.A.R.E. graduation is Tuesday, March 8 at 6:00pm. We look forward to an awesome start to our last quarter of the 21-22 school year on Monday, March 7! Report cards will come home on Friday, March 11.
Now that warm weather is right around the corner, please encourage your child to take a look in the lost and found if they are missing items of clothing, water bottles or lunch boxes.
Thank you for sharing your lovely children with us!
Sincerely,
Sue Bamford

Outstanding Educator and Classified Support Staff Awards
Do you know a Beavercreek City Schools’ educator or classified support staff member who consistently goes above and beyond in our schools and in the community? Then consider nominating that individual for the Beavercreek City Schools Outstanding Educator Award or Outstanding Classified Staff Member Award. Nominations are being accepted until Friday, March 4. Nomination forms and information can be found here: https://www.gocreek.org/page/outstanding-awards.
School Supply Drive - Jennings Creek Elementary
During the month of March, we will be holding a school supply drive and fundraiser for Jennings Creek Elementary School in Bowling Green, KY. This school and the surrounding area were hit by damaging tornadoes this past fall. This school became a “Ground Zero” for first responders and sheltered over 90 families during the aftermath of the tornadoes. Life in Bowling Green continues to be challenging and we are hopeful that we can help support their recovery in a big way!
The school supply drive will run from Feb. 28 through March 18th. If you are able to donate any of the items listed below, please send the new and prepackaged items in with your child. Classrooms donating the most number of items will earn a pizza party!
No. 2 pencils
Colored pencils
Notebook paper
Crayons
Glue sticks
Backpacks
The week of March 14-18th, we will have a Spirit Week revolving around the theme “Lucky.” During this week, students are encouraged to donate $1 to participate in the spirit wear activities. We will also be holding a classroom door decorating contest. The winning rooms will receive a classroom donut party! The money collected from this fundraiser will also go to Jennings Creek Elementary towards purchasing necessary items lost in the storms.
Anything that you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated! Students will also be coloring pictures and writing notes of encouragement to the students. It is our hope that these donations and notes will help to lift their spirits and help them get back to some small part of normalcy in their school.
Shine Award - Jax Olmeda
Jax is a great role model for all students in the classroom. He is a problem solver and
often tries to help friends figure out how to solve problems or answer questions in the
classroom. Jax displays the golden rule daily by treating everyone he comes in contact with respect, kindness, and a friendly smile. Jax always comes to school prepared. He is self motivated and always gives 110%. He is the person students look to in the class to see what they are supposed to be doing. We are truly lucky to have him at Parkwood.
