Carbohydrates can be found in sugars, starches, and fiber. They are a major source of energy for living things. They can be found in both healthy and unhealthy food sources.
Complex carbohydrates are called polysaccharides which is found in grains, seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetables, and seaweed. Carbohydrates are very important in meals because your body breaks them down into glucose for energy for cells and organs. Polysaccharides create starch which is a lot of glucose put together. Saccharides are used to replace sugar sometimes since they are very similar. Glycogen is stored as body fats which is transformed into energy when the body needs it. Amylose is held together by glycosidic bonds in a linear formula and makes up half of starch.
