Skating Party

Thursday, January 31, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

SAS has been holding skating parties at the Lynwood Sport Center for over four decades now. Come join the tradition! Kids of all ages are invited; there are accommodations for even the youngest skaters. Admission is $6, and skate rentals are $2.50 (they even have learn-to-skate skates for the little ones, and "walkers" on wheels are available for $4 rental fee). Parents/guardians are not required to skate. Every student does need to be accompanied by a responsible adult who will sign them in and out and remain on the premises for the duration of the event. This means that if you are unable to stay, another adult (18 or over) must be willing to take responsibility for your child in your absence. Our January Skating Party is being hosted by the 7th Grade Parents. Their SignUp has been completely filled. Way to go!

Daddy Daughter Dance Tickets Now On Sale--$30 Per Couple By Feb. 1

Ticket order forms went home in the Thursday envelope last week. You may notice on the tear-off portion that there is a mistake on the price--it is actually $30 per couple. Clearly our flyer-maker needs to be fired for her lack of attention to detail! If you would like to print a new corrected form, you can find one here. There is also a volunteer SignUp. If moms want to watch from afar and snap a couple sneaky candids, the only way to be there is to help out that night.

DON'T FORGET, YOU HAVE UNTIL THE END OF MARCH TO PUT IN ALL 15 SERVICE HOURS AND EARN BACK YOUR $300 VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT!

Any hours worked after March 31 (like the school picnic and the Good Neighbor Day Parade) will be credited toward your 2019-20 school year volunteer requirement. Some opportunities between now and then:

HSA Meeting Representative

Daddy Daughter Dance

Night at the Palace

Lunch & Recess Monitor

See if there are any classroom events for your particular grade(s)

Night at the Palace Updates

Our next planning meeting is WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 7:00 p.m. at J.J. KELLEY'S. Sign up to volunteer and earn those hours for this year: http://signup.com/go/fDHoYou

Tickets are now on sale, and order forms went home in last week's Thursday envelope. They are $50 each and include dinner, open bar, and a chance at a $1,500 trip to anywhere you want to go! Try to round up all your friends so you can sit together. There will be a prize for the class that has the highest percentage of parent participation (attending, donating, working, they all count).

Please see our Weekly Wish List immediately below for items we are seeking. The reverse side of the order form you received outlines service hours credit you can receive for donations.

Welcome to Ms. Fary!

If you've been in the building lately, you may have seen a new face. Ms. Bess Fary is very excited to be our new 1st Grade teacher, having taken over Mrs. Galazin's class upon her departure. A few things about her in her own words:

"I attended Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, where I earned a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading. To me, the best part about teaching is that I get to have a positive impact on future generations. There is nothing better than seeing my students become confident, lifelong learners! When I am not in school I enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending time with my dogs."

Our Next Box Tops Challenge Deadline is February 7!

Our surprise basket full of goodies for the winner is growing! What kind of goodies? Only time will tell! It only takes one entry to win, but why not increase your chances and go for two or more?
  • 25 Box Tops = 1 Entry
  • 50 Box Tops = 2 Entries
  • 100 Box Tops = 4 Entries
  • and so on!

Our grand prize winner will be announced and rewarded on Valentine's Day. Print out your collection sheets here, or enclose neatly clipped Box Tops in Ziploc baggies--be sure your child's name and class are on all submissions. Please note: We cannot accept expired Box Tops, which could affect your entries, so please make sure yours are current.

Tax Credit Scholarship Matching Gift Program

If you or anyone you know likes to take advantage of tax credits, please refer to the Archdiocese of Chicago's Tax Credit Scholarship information page. Not only will donations to the program made by the end of February be TRIPLED by the 2-for-1 matching program, but your entire Illinois state tax liability could be eliminated! Plus, donors can designate which school receives their funds, so the money can all stay right here to help our families. Print a fact sheet here to give to your loved ones.

Did you know your purchases can make a difference? AmazonSmile donates to St. Ann when you do your shopping at smile.amazon.com/ch/36-2601098.
