Flowery Flyer

Week of 2/1/16

Weekly Recap

I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Justina and all staff who contributed to preparing and executing our DI Kinder Information Night. We had a nice turn out of parents and there is a ton of enthusiasm from our incoming families. Go Team Flowery!

I'm looking forward to our writing training on Monday with Kevin Coates! Morning refreshments and lunch from Mary's will be provided. The training will begin promptly at 8:30 in the Falcon's Nest.

Please send home the February RAP in Monday folders. Thank you!

Planning is in action for the Jogathon and the Talent Show. The Jogathon is scheduled for Friday, March 18th and the Talent Show is scheduled for Thursday, April 7th. We will hold the Jogathon Kick off assembly in conjuction with the Sing-Along on Friday, 2/19. Sponsor information and a parent packet will go home on Monday, February 22. The Talent Show will take a different format and will now be open to all students in grades 1-5. A flyer with dates of auditions and rehearsals will be coming soon to send home with students.

Kambiz will be out starting 2/3-2/17. We will still follow the computer lab schedule. Students in grades 3-5 will be completing interim performance tasks in the month of February. We will have to utilize the lab to complete the assessments. I will notify individual teachers if your lab time is impacted. Thanks for your flexibility!

The Copperfields Book Fair is coming to Flowery the week of parent conferences. We are excited to bring a new book vendor to Flowery. Special thanks to Gayleen Brown for coordinating the event! More details to come as we get closer.

Valentine's Day is coming! It's a great time to do a soup and salad potluck to celebrate our team! I will place a sign up sheet in the staff room. The staff potluck will take place during lunch on Thursday, 2/11. I heart Flowery!

Begun in 1998 with one kindergarten class and a $1,000,000 federal grant, dual immersion now spans grades K-5 at Flowery and grades 6-8 at Adele Harrison Middle School. We are proud to offer this high quality program of choice for Sonoma County families, and are committed to educating all children for success in a global society.
