Wildcat Weekly
October 23rd Edition
Hybrid Success
Our first days with both Cohort A and Cohort B went great! Westie, our mascot, was here to greet our students as they arrived. Balloons and signs decorated our entrance. It was a festive welcoming, but the best part was seeing our students arrive!
We love having our kids back. Student work is now beginning to line our hallways again. I can hear singing, laughter and reading in the classrooms. Students are demonstrating how to social distance in the hallways and at recess! The cafeteria is buzzing with conversations and smiles. I am so proud of how well the children have adapted to our rules and new procedures.
Welcome Back Wildcats!

We are so glad you are back!
DROP OFF and PICK UP PROCEDURES
- Drop -off occurs each day between 8:35 and 9:05.
- Drop-off and Pick-up area is the back door of the gym. (see attached aerial view)
- Please have children ready to exit the car at the drop off area for an efficient and safe drop-off.
- Pick-up begins at 3:10. Please do not arrive before 3:00 PM. If you do arrive early, please park in a parking space until 3:00, or pull into the side parking lot and wait. We have kindergarteners on the recess yard until 3:00. It is unnerving to have the front of a vehicle, facing them as they play. Thank you for your cooperation!
- When picking up children, please have the hang tag on your rear view mirror with the child's last name written on it.
- Please do not rely on emails for changes in dismissal for your child(ren). For last minute changes, please call the office - 484-266-1802.
Halloween Celebration
Things are certainly different this year and we at WTE are trying to provide as much normalcy and fun for the kids as we can. Even though we know Halloween is next week, our staff is planning the following to help our kids enjoy the fall holiday.
Students attending Cohort A will celebrate on Tuesday, October 27th and students attending on Cohort B will celebrate on Friday, October 30th. Students who are remote learners, can attend one of the parties through Zoom.
Unless you hear differently from your child’s classroom teacher, we are asking that each parent to send in a special snack for their child to enjoy during the party. We would appreciate it if you considered sending in nut free items as their may be students with allergies in the class.
Students should either wear their costume, or if it just slips on over their clothes, they can bring it with them. The costumes will need to be put on in the classrooms. We cannot have anyone needing the bathroom for changes. There won’t be extra help to tie, button, etc., so simple is the key attribute for costumes, this year! All props should be left at home. Masks can be brought to school (to be worn over the face masks) and may be worn in the classroom.
Teachers will have a party in their own classrooms. Students will be videotaped moving or dancing (being socially distanced) which will then be added with all the other classrooms to create a WTE Halloween 2020 iMovie.
As a parent and grandparent, myself, I know how exciting it is to see our kids in costumes. However, we are not having any parents this year for this event. We will not be having a school-wide parade. With social distancing requirements, we will be forgoing this tradition, but perhaps staring a new one. All festivities will be inside the school. We will share our iMovie with parents!
ACP
Parents will use the cafeteria doors to drop-off and pick-up their children. The ACP staff will post their phone number on the outside of the cafeteria door so parents can alert them. Please note, at 8:35 when school drop off begins, ALL students will be dropped off at the gym doors. We will guide the students to either the ACP room or to their classrooms. Parents who want to pick up their students from ACP during regular dismissal times, will pick them up at the gym doors - the regular pick-up location. Please alert the ACP staff of your plans and they will see that your child reports to the gym.
